I believe there is root option in developer tools or something. You need to enable it.

That option is not available on the stable ROM, just the developer rom

The rooting option should be in the "security" settings. I think its called Lbeguard or something. Root hides in there. Its justs a radio button thats all.[DOUBLEPOST=1406148337][/DOUBLEPOST]ok my bad, apparently root is not so straight forward for the default rom on xiaomi. You need ot be using a dev rom.

Rooted the ROM.

The easiest way to root is to install CWM recovery and use chainfire SuperSu app.

Thanks works like a charm. Used Titanium Backup to restore apps.
You will need to install their phone manager software which installs the necessary drivers. I found it somewhere on Xiaomi MIUI site.[/QUOTE]

Plugin the phone. Two drives will popup, one of them has the drivers. The phone manager unfortunately is in Chinese.
