Interestingly, Xiaomi has started a new Twitter handle especially for its Redmi lineup of smartphones. As seen above, the teaser just about shows the price tag Rs 5,999. If we were to hazard a guess, it could be a price cut for the Xiaomi Redmi 2 by Rs 1,000, which is in line with recent announcements. Alternatively, it could also be an exchange offer for the Redmi Note 4G, which brings the price of the phablet further down to Rs 5,999.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro can now be pre-ordered globally from Gearbest....

While the company hasn’t mentioned any such thing, it seems logical that it may have plans to bring the Redmi 2 smartphone with 2GB RAM in India and sell it for Rs 6,999. We will know more on July 7th when the company will make things official.

EDIT : Or Redmi 2A ?

I ordered this phone on 24th June and I was really sad seeing this thread.
Today after the price change, I raised a concern to Amazon CC. Now they are offering me a refund of 1000rs. :D

As expected, Xiaomi has announced a small price cut for Redmi 2 smartphone in India, but what we didn't expect is it introduced the Redmi 2 Enhanced. The Redmi 2 now costs Rs 5,999 in India or the equivalent of $100, but in Singapore it sells for $149.

The new, Enhanced version is coming soon to Singapore. It has the same design and almost the same specifications. The only differences it features 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, compared to the 1 GB and 16 GB of the standard model. The price tag in Singapore is slightly higher than the standard model, priced at $179.

$30 = Rs 1800 approx, so Rs 8000 for Redmi 2 Enhanced?
