The Redmi 2S is listed as having a 4.7-inch 1280×720 pixels display, a quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Other specs aren’t mentioned, but the phone is said to come with 8GB of expandable internal storage, and a 2,200mAh battery. In terms of design, the Redmi 2S looks quite similar to the Redmi 1S, except for a few changes in the placement of elements like the LED flash and speaker grille.

The Redmi 2S will reportedly be made available in black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, purple, and blue, color options that are considerably higher than what Xiaomi offered with the 1S. There is no info on pricing and availability, though it’s expected to be unveiled sometime early next year.

Images of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 2S have been leaked. The successor of the Redmi 1S will allegedly come with dual-LTE slots. Also, the Redmi 2S will be slimmer (9.2mm vs 9.9mm) and lighter (132g vs 158g) than the Redmi 1S, but it will be slightly taller (134mm vs 132mm). Spec wise, the Redmi 2S is nearly identical to the Redmi 1S, except that it is powered by the new 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SoC.

The Redmi 2S will come with Android 4.4 KitKat running MIUI v6. Xiaomi will reportedly announce the device on January 4th.

So it's obviously a mid-range device, but what makes it notable is the cost. Xiaomi is pricing the Redmi 2 at 699 Chinese Yuan, which works out to just $112. That's a killer deal for a device with LTE in Asia. It runs Android with the MIUI 6 skin complete with Xiaomi services standing in for Google.
The Redmi 2 goes on sale January 9th in China in five colors—white, black, yellow, pink, and green.
