Xiaomi has begun a new home pick-up and drop-off service for parts of India. The upstart manufacturer will do this with devices in or out of warranty. The service is priced at the equivalent of $1.55 USD in Delhi/NCR and $1.80 USD in Mumbai for each device. Local taxes need to be added to these dollar amounts.
Apparently, Xiaomi is doing this to counter bad press it has received in the country from customers complaining about the company's after sales service. To arrange a pick-up or drop-off, those in the Indian cities covered by the new service need to call 1800-103-6268 to make an appointment. Devices repaired under warranty will be returned right to the owner's door after being repaired, in just 24 hours. Of course, more serious issues will require a longer time period. Xiaomi says that it is looking to expand the service across India.
