you can get a rebate if you have valid US address (relatives & friends) and the sales invoice in your name.

I am not sure about this but for the rebate if you have a valid US address then they do send (again no guarantee). Not sure if the name on invoice has to match the address name.

Also if you give outside US address then rebate will never come.

I have successfully got rebate in two such instances but it takes time to come and there is almost no way to track (in some cases there are) and you need to hope for it to show up.
