Acoording to their latest blog post they are shutting their servers on Jan 10. I found their service really good and I use multiple browsers(chrome,ff,ie9) and syncing everything on it was easy. Heck I could even use it with my iPad partially.

It's sad they are going down. I have installed firefox sync but I don't know weather there is a free service which I could use to sync multiple browsers. If yes then do let me know.

Synchronizing in Firefox:- Firefox provides a sync add-on(Firefox Sync) that syncs your passwords, bookmarks, history, and even your open tabs across all your devices.

Synchronizing in Chrome:- Most of the Xmarks features are in-built in Chrome. You can sync apps, extensions, autofill, preferences, bookmarks etc. from one machine to another. Your settings are saved in your Google Account and changes are synced instantaneously.

Synchronizing in IE:- Use the Windows Live Sync beta to sync your bookmarks.

Synchronizing Passwords in all browsers:- You can’t sync your passwords with Google Sync. But, there’s an excellent LastPass extension, which stores your passwords for any browser, and your passwords are decrypted only on your PC. So there is not much of a security problem.

Hope it helps. :)

LastPass seems pretty good. As for synchronization of bookmarks across all browsers and across all platforms(Read iOS, Win and Mac) nothing comes close to xmarks.

Yup. Unfortunately, there’s no perfect option that works across all browsers like Xmarks did.

Oh, BTW you can use Delicious to sync bookmarks across all browsers:- Just get the extensions for Firefox, Chrome and even IE. Not to mention, you can access them from your mobile phone too.

Well i am using firefox sync and lastpass as of now and will use Firefox till the time being. I dont mind paying close to $10 for xmarks per year if they continue thier service.

I know that udit. that is why i posted what i posted but they will only make that happen once they have 100,000 pledges/customers.

I'm with Ninbychoice ...

Opera Link is just perfect! Best is, I can sync between my Opera Mini on my mobile phone too. Makes sharing pages on my phone<->computer really really easy ....

Anyways to Sync Safari on iPhone with Firefox on computer ?

One of my friend asked me the same question some days ago..

Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn’t sync bookmarks directly from Firefox.. There is a workaround though. You'll have to import Firefox's bookmarks into Safari and then sync them into your iPhone.

1. Open Firefox and export your bookmarks in .html format.

2. Open Safari and select File -> Import Bookmarks -> Select the .html file and your firefox bookmarks will be imported.

3. Connect your iPhone to your computer.

4. Select device in the left-hand side window of iTunes -> Click on Info tab -> In the Web Browser section make sure Sync Safari Bookmarks is checked.

5. Click Apply. iTunes will sync your device. :)

Thanks for the info man. I wasn't aware of that. I'll miss Xmarks too.

Sure there are other options, but always seems a b**ch.

Hello,

Thank you for your recent pledge to keep Xmarks alive. After a

near-brush with shutting down, we’re happy to report that

Xmarks has been acquired by LastPass, the leading password and

data manager.

https://lastpass.com/

The acquisition means two things for Xmarks users:

1) Xmarks will continue as the same free service that you know

and love.

2) Xmarks now offers a Premium service for $12 per year that

includes the iPhone and Android apps, advanced features, and

priority support. See Xmarks Features: Overview for

more information.

We hope that as an Xmarks user who pledged your support to keep

Xmarks alive, you will consider upgrading to Xmarks Premium to

gain access to these features. Your support will not only

ensure our long-term viability, but will also help accelerate

the introduction of new features and service improvements.

We're excited to continue providing the best data-syncing tools
