Hey ppl, hws it going.. :)

Need some help from Xonar DX users n others as well;

I've an MX5021 plugged into the onboard Realtek sound;
Sounds pretty ok;

Wanted to know if investing in a Xonar DX would make the listening experience in Music, Movies and games better;

I mean is it a worthwhile investment??

I may be getting one cheap; :P

I believe Apollyon, Farookh sir and many others have the DX;

Errrm... Ppl, can I have some inputs here?? :(

Sangram sir??? Techhead?? Apollyon??? Farookh??? Greenie?? koi hein??? :ashamed:

[Chaos dada gave me his response already :P]

TBH I've not heard the Xonar.

But it would definitely be a big improvement. even a crappy old SB Live is an improvement from any Realtrick card I've ever had the displeasure of hearing.

How much and what details will be better, is only from specific experience, which I don't have with at least that card.

I've used the MX with a DIY Alien DAC and it kicks Realtek butt out of the stratosphere - that card puts up a great fight even against my modded pro cards, so I expect the Xonar will be a decent upgrade from the onboard.

Don't know about the rest, but the Xonar definitely sounds better than the Audigy Value (basiclly SB Live 24!).

If you are interested I am selling mine, because I got digital setup and now want to spend this money on a bigger screen.

Techhead sir, but the XM's grossly overpriced ATM; :(

And isn't the XM competing against the D2X if I'm not mistaken??? :huh:

And for 3.5k odd, I thought the DX was a good option for the priority:

Games>Movies~Music; :)

sorry for the little hijack here.

i wanted to ask this question from some time. i have an old SB Live! Value card lying around, the first ones that were introduced, i think its 16-bit. would that sound better than onboard sound?

Even to your "non audiophile" ears :P the difference is huge. Better sound is always a good investment, the DX2 would be much better though. If you're into music, or gaming then a proper soundcard is an absolute must...

@viralbug it wud be definitely worth a lot than the onboard chip,,,realtek suxx.....good onboard chips are soundmax...but they too cant keep up with
even old sblive..
