XP blue screen fatal error c000021a

hi folks,
need some help i have a blue screen of death? and while i know everyone gets it and i can google solutions till the end of eternity i actually know whats wrong already and have a fix. problem is i can boot past the blue screen to fix it. So i was wondering if someone could help me. I only have to get in to replace w2_32.dll which i think was deleted by my anitvirus after an infection( the next time i reboot after running nad healing the virus i got the blue screen and the virus was in the .dll)

Is there any way i can get in through the recovery console? or by booting from a USB, i dont have the windows disk (dell are real smart putting that kind of thing on your harddrive when you get a new computer)and had to boot from a USB (XP on a stick)drive before. Now as much as Ive booted from a USB before i remember how complicated it was to make one to begin with. If i have to i will but once booted from the USB would i be able to acces the XP files on my computer to replace the .dll, i have it downloaded and all on the computer so only have to unrar it and move it to my System32! easy! well apart from the blue screen bit......

Use a bart pe/ win pe cd to boot, or easier use a ubuntu live cd to boot and then do your activity.
 
im well ahead of you, i found a PE i made up a while ago on my external harddrive, such life savers. the stress i would have had without it, my install cd is on the laptop itself so at least i can get to it now and back up all my stuff to my external, on the off chance it all goes pear shaped, and the main problem is unfixable. thanks for getting back to me though! much appreciated
