Laptops Xp installation Problem in DELL Vostro 1400

well friends i got dell Vostro 1400 from lammy 2 days back.
I cant install XP in this Laptop .I had installed UBUNTU in it without any flaws ....
I had used #3 XP Cds which worked in Acer lappy without any Prob but none of them worked on Vostro.
CD boots everything get initiated but when We had to HIT ENTER KEY to install XP i get message " HARDDISK MAY NOT BE PROPERLY CONNECTED or MIGHT BE DISABLED "
plz help me to get out of this Problem :(
 
Your lappy HDD is Sata based.. XP CD doesn't recognize it coz it needs sata drivers for the same..U hve to integrate sata driver in XP CD..if u don't have driver at present, you might be able to install XP if you Disable ' Native Sata' Support in bios.:D:
 
^ u mean SATA hdd doesnot support Xp? Or was it because Vostro has VISTA as OEM OS? I really wanna know.
 
basically...

coz xp upto sp2 did not have integrated sata drive support. you needed to supply external drivers.

if you have a copy of xp with sp2 integrated, then you have no such issues.
