xp networking issue

PC installed with XP pro.It does not asks username and password when i am accessing from other system through network.I shared d:. But it is opening directly without entering my user name and password.I want it to ask the password. Pls advise me the solution for that.

Lock the A/c with password. Not only yours, but also the Administrator A/c.

set permission for the share. You need to have a user id with password to enter a password when you want to access it. if there is no account setup without password then it won't be possible.

once you have setup the account with password just provide permission to that account in share properties dialogue box.

I have given password to both administrator and user as well.I remove the simple file sharing also but didn't worked out for me.

Well, there should some setting like not to allow all user, but specific users.

It is work group only not in domain

Is it the first time you are accessing the XP Shared drive from a network location?
