XP problems

certain problems faced with my comp

1. when i press restart or shutdown my XP.. it comes till the blue sceen where it says SAVING YOUR SETTINGS and it does not go further.. i have to manually restart/shutdown the comp through the switch on the CPU

2. The connections tray does not disappear when i disconnect my internet.. it still is there.. the net disconnects but the connection's monitors dont go away.. so i cant reconnect or anything and have to restart the comp and then again face with the Problem no. 1 mentioned above

Sounds like a virus to me.

Check your msconfig start ups (run > msconfig) and rpocess explorer for anything suspicious.

no i doubt its a virus because this problem was there on the very next day when my comp came back from complete formatting and stuff and there was no internet usage that day nor were there any files that were added to the computer.. so i suppose its not a virus issue..

and what do i do next in msconfig?
