I'm very much in trouble. Since past some days i have been receiving some spam/junk both in yahoo inbox + spam folder. No matter you mark it spam it appears in inbox next time.:@

Strange thing is ,these mails are sent automatically forwarded to all in my yahoo address book contacts without my consent.:@ Thus the recipients are inquiring me wtf is all this shit??!!!:ashamed:

Following is the screenshot of the spam mails:

These very same mails get forwarded to all contacts in my yahoo address book.

Rest, mails from other sources apart from this, dont get forwarded.

I'm not using/never used any outlook or mail program.

Yes, opened the link first time & it pointed towards some general medical site, though it has got unsubscribe option, it doesnt work due to no captcha image.

No virus in pc, no suspicious net activity.

Is any yahoo user here getting similar junk mails?

How to solve this issue?:(

Os:-Win 7 pro sp1 + eset nod32 + advanced system care

I have 5 yahoo a/cs and all have different passwords. & in every a/c i started getting these mails.

then get done and dusted with yahoo , who uses yahoo in 2011 :P , i know it may be important , but you can gradually shift to gmail , delete your yahoo accounts permanently & you can get those ids back again after 180 days if you want it desperately

lols for me gmail sucks even more than yahoo. Daily get tons of spams--over 400+ mails. Created another gmail bt that too same.

Running away isnt a solution. Using my yahoo a/c since past 11 yrs so cant let it go so easily.

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

possible reasons:

you inadvertently clicked on some link and subscribed to it.

chances are that your PC is infected with keyloggers / trojans.

Solutions:
Yes, change the password to a stronger and longer one with numbers, letters, signs, special characters all in it.
Two download a good antivirus disk (Kaspersky and Bitdefender provide free) and run a scan from CD.
Three in your yahoo account check you have not enabled the auto responder to on, then turn it off.
Create a filter in yahoo and send all mails falling in to a separate folder. Do this for all mails individually for 2/3 sessions.

Also scan your pc with good anti spywares like SpyBot S&D, and 2/3 more.

make a habit of logging out of your email account and also from yahoo network everytime you finish the session.

Delete any passwords stored in browser password manager and fill every time you login.

Disable remember me option from login screen.

Revert back if all the measures fail.

I had the same problem recently. I think you have stored all of those passwords in firefox, right? If yes, then change all the passwords and do not save it in firefox cache. It should be fine after that, at-least, it worked for me. Let me know if it also works for you.

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

Ok thx guys. i just changed all my yahoo a/cs passwords & i'm in xp right now. Tomorrow morning will try from xp first & then win 7 and then lets see who is the culprit.

Then accordingly will try the remaining steps.

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

I too had this problem couple of times,
had to change password twice and also changed all the default recovery info, before the spammer stopped.

and funny thing is that i was using firefox to access yahoo at that time.
since then firefox has been removed and done with.
i am sure its not firefox's fault. but maybe some one sneaked in a keylogger in through one of the many addons that i used.

now i just make sure to change my passwords every couple of months and keep them at least 12 digits long.

It may be a cubersome task but i would also advice to delete all your yahoo contacts for now, off course after taking a text based or something backup to see that these dont get forwarded to people in your address book.

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

I just logged in into my yahoo a/cs via WinXP and now there are no such mails anymore atleast for now. But lets see for the day. I will use XP today. And will try back Win7 tomorrow or tonight.

@maddy143ded: yes i too suspect its coz of firefox but hey i dint install any addons or plugins. So still i'm clueless why all this shit is happening.

@raksrules: i too thought the same but will do it after deep inspection.

@medpal: i dint clicked on any links or subscribed i swear i'm damn sure.

Pc infection ruled out as Advance system care did found many item in registry n here/there and deleted it.

My trusty eset too is on guard up to date everyday and found nothing.

Password has been changed to more complex

No auto responder and never used it.

Filters suck in yahoo, atleast they never worked for me.

Will try scanning by SpyBot S&D

I dont store any passwords as i use LastPass---now is lastpass to be blamed for all this fuss???

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

^^Sometimes we received those spams and they mention that in order to unsubscribe one has to click some link and probably it never unsubscribes and rather gives our email ids to those bad people (or whatever they are)

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

I guess i caught the culprit. Since last night using win xp and no issues not even a single shit junk mail. :ohyeah:

I think its win7 but still i have to enter my win7 a/c for data backup and then only can think of deleting/formatting that partition.

Any idea to completely clean my win7 and use it hassle free by removing the real culprit from it??:S Any definite tools i can use?

Re: Yahoo automatically sending/receiving spam/junk from my a/c to all in my address

the best thing to do would be to use win 7 without connecting it to a network. take backup to a different HDD. then make a clean install. also install Avast or any other antivirus you are comfortable with. get ccleaner, and other specific malware cleaners, or you can try hirens boot cd. i think I used it once to clean quite a few malwares and viruses from my data disk. check your backup data with it and then complete the install.

now a days i just keep most of my important data on a separate disk, so that i dont have to take a lot of backups, when reinstalling or upgrading.

if you dont have time to do so much specific cleaning. just uninstall any software that looks suspect, all your browsers, and then do a boot scan with any antivirus.
then reinstall your browsers from a fresh downloaded copy.

and while i may not be a SW engineer or a specialist, i have handled my share of dirty computers from varying backgrounds, (kids gaming comps, to cyber cafe rigs, and even a few corporate setups, )
also if you are going for a reinstall , try to get a new download for your windows 7 dvd. for clean sources go to
My Digital Life from there go to forums , there you will find a wealth of information for windows and related softwares.
