Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory via kmd - 5.5k
corsair hx620w - 6.4k
total - 31.4k

wait for 4850/4870 - 10-15k/17-21k via kmd i guess

i would buy a 2408WFP (26k via Phoenix) for full hd

P.S. I read only the first post & apollyon's post

Was waiting for your reply :P. You've been bugging me for ages!!

As of now, 26k is too much for the monitor. I MIGHT get the 248WFP for 20k or so. Let's see...

ah Nikhil old chap!, I'm in exactly the same position you are in.
Looking for a new HTPC/Gaming rig combo exactly 1 month down the line from now, budget 50k (gfx+monitor+Hdd+ram+mobo+cabby+PSU+TV tuner card).

Have to last 2-3 years. I dont game too much doesnt means i want something that cannot run latest games, but stability of rig and overall performance should matter and I love multitasting, Lots of experimenting with the rig is also going to be there, like maybe making it a webserver for sometime and host stuffs.

So I'm going to closely follow this thread as most of what your gonna buy a bit of plus minus, mine one might just fit in!

I was absolutely out of hardware world for quite long now..these new gfx naming are really confusing. Are you getting any decent full HD S-IPS LCD around 20k territory? Also these new dash between Quad and Dual are confusing as well, Quad "feels" futuristic and tempting, but dual 7200 seems bang for the buck...how much price/performance bargain among the two; now and down the line can we see?

So upgrade after a long long time :)

Here is my suggestion :-( just wait a 3-4 weeks or so to get this)

1. Abit IP35-E --- 5.4k

2. E7200 -------- 5.9k

3. Corsair TX 650 --5.8k

4. Gskill 4GBPQ --- 4.5k

5. HD 4870 1GB DDR5(329-349$)--- 16k~17k or GTX 260(~375-390$) ~21k( iwill suggest you for HD 4870)

6. Dell E248WFP ~18k

7. CM 690 modded via KMD --- 4.5k

Total will be below 65k :)

I would not recommend any SLI/CF setup...rather get a powerful single card which will serve u better for quite some time and have no driver related scaling issues. And ya a E7200 @ 3.6Ghz is good enough and wont be any bottleneck believe me. Nehalem will anyway pwn all this chips (be it dual or quad) or dnt spend too much on mobo/CPU now (like 11k for mobo + 9-10k for CPU) even if u dnt intend to upgrade. A C2D @ 3.6Ghz is a lot of horsepower believe me at least a year more :)

Thanks buddy :)

IP 35-E will be good for oc'ing?

@x86 -- the e248 is supposed to be around 20k, but not an S-IPS panel. It's a TN panel.

This thread is singularly responsible for bringing me up to date on all the new hardware :P

Just curious, what is the availability of the Abit board and Gskill RAM like ?

Well what I can tell is that it should be easily able to do 3.6Ghz with an E7200 for 24X7 speeds. If u get a good batch even more is possible . I will suggest you to buy in steps. You can buy the mobo, CPU(try to grab a Q805AXXX),RAM(with the good ocing Powerchips) and cabinet for now.

The LCD, Video card nd the PSU can be bought later depending on better deals :) and when the price is sweet :)

The Gskill 4GBPQ costs arnd 80-85$ in newegg should cost arnd 4.5k or so via KMD :)

They can do arnd 1066Mhz (4-4-4-12) / 850 Mhz (4-4-4-12) at very low volts (1.9~2.0V) and run as cool as a cucumber :)

And ya a E7200 running @ 3.6Ghz is like his Athlon 64 (754 pin) running at 10Ghz or even more

I dont have a PCIe card. SO, I have to buy a GPU asap.

Mine is an X2 3800+!! Socket 939.

^^ you could get a temp card like a 8400gs and get rid of it later..

the 2408wfp is not for 26k.. its more like 31k.. minimum. prices have gone up.

the gskill kits are avail in India from Prime.. (afaik they have only the 2gig kit.. for arnd 2.4k)

get the 4GBPQ only...no point getting 2 GB kits anymore :)

As of GPU , I guess u can get something for temp use !!! Ask arnd...few ppl have old PCIe cards sitting :P

Or wait arnd 3-4 weeks....the HD 4870 should be available by July middle or so :) or may be even earlier if u get through KMD

I will not be buying right now. Will buy only in 2-3 weeks.

ati cards should be more expensive here in India.. so i guess it would make more sense to get a card from the states through kmd.. they should be avail widely within a coupla weeks.

my kit is the Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory.. The GBNQ

also.. i saw these for the chips..

G.Skill F2 6400CL5D 2GBNQ - testing - XtremeSystems Forums

G-Skill 6400 1GBNQ + 2GBNQ > Overclockingliste und Chipbestückung - Forum de Luxx

even they are sorta confused i guess.. either promos or powerchip

hmmm.... that's nice. They seem to overclock nicely. What difference does Promos or Powerchip make?
