Hello Friends,

Can anybody please let me know why this messages is popping up? It's already more than 1 day since last PM sent by me.

You may only post 10 messages every 3600 minutes.

Best Regards,
Kekerode

This is to prevent spammers such that none can create an account and start spamming thru pm. Your post count must reach 35 to get all facilities. But don't hurry by just posting same message in all threads or just saying +1 etc. :)

Hi sabby ... thanks for reply ... i believe in quality :hap2: rather than quantity

I don't know how server is calculating 3600 minutes ... shouldn't admin check once? .... I have to sent email to everybody :@ and not everyone enabled option for receiving email from members :(

I was just wondering, isnt 3600 minutes too much?

Also it looks like a bit of a coding fault/mistype to me, isn't it coincidental that an hour has 3600 "seconds" while the block is for 3600 "minutes".

10 PMs for 2.5 days is more than sufficient, unless the member has an intention of spamming through PMs. Justify the need for more than 10 PMs in 2.5 days for new members, and the admins will then consider.

Ok lets take a real world example.

I need quote for something , i will ask 3 most prominent dealers in forum via pm. +3

They all reply and I acknowledge them in a positive or negative way +3

I have some stuff for sale at the same time and 3 people ask me for it and so i reply +3

Moderator warns me I have only one message left for me to last the rest of the 2 day

and I reply asking for atlest 5 more +1

BOOOOOM no pm for 3600 !

Deals gone, unless we specified phone numbers

Sale gone.

Negative feedback +100

Why the need for -ve feedback??

Please do note that TE is not only about buying, selling or making deals. Its more than that. And restriction on new users for limited period of time are part of the process to make TE a better community.

All these restrictions are put in there for a reason. After carefully considering all the -ve and +ves and +ves outway the -ve at this point.

i agree its more a community than anything else , but i guess its my mistake.

Should have read the rules , if such a thing was specified I would have made sure I dont exceed my limit. Now im just stuck for 2.5 days

PS I am nearing my 35 posts :)

Maybe we should just shut down the market section and then TE will be back to normal- good old TE. But market section has become so integrated and luxury for all of us, its not possible to remove it now unless we bite a bullet- a really hard bullet.

^ yeah, sounds like a good idea. like on a trial basis, shut it down for a week to gauge the impact. i get the feeling sometimes that everyone is coming here just to sell something and not for gaining any technical knowledge. :(

Nobody can be forced to "gain or share knowledge".

it has to be a choice. And the restrictions are mainly to avoid spammers.

We have had too many cases of new members spamming through PMs ( including bots and advertisement spammers ) that this had to be implemented.

Agreed- but that's not the point is it? This is a tech forum- therefore we discuss about tech and anything related. We started market section so that we can sell our hardware at a justified price- but since the mass have different plans, the essence of a tech forum where many of people like yourself have made for a very long time is beginning to dissapear slowly. Isn't this the same thing which happened on other tech forums as well?

Rules have "loopholes" and people tend to exploit the loopholes no matter how hard or inconvenient it is rather than follow a simple rule which barely take much effort. With highest level of respect majority of the people in this country have that same mentality and practice it in everyday life, therefore its also getting reflected over here because of the market section. People who are giving wrong advice (cm 600 extreme discussions being a big example :P) are eventually taken care of.

If one clicks the "new post" button, majority of the new post is somewhat related to market section and barely 1-2 are actual technical threads. Now what? Make sure new posts dont reflect market threads? We should give this a try and see if TE returns back the way it was before- or maybe we remove the market section from the main forum and put a separate link on the website's navigation bar.

We tried the market link strategy and it failed. As for new-post-filled-with-market-posts. You have the option to ignore market posts. Take a look at the top right corner.

Shutting down the market section would only harm TE. I might not know much.. but if im not wrong.. the market does help to keep TE on decent servers. Shutting down the market would mostly harm that.

Im not saying this has to be done. But there are so many new members on TE, maybe we can bring down the numbers by saying admission only through referral? ( It does go against most ideals ) but maybe that would stop spammers if not slow them down at-least.

:(

^^ referral will slow down the growth of the community.

more restrictions related to market would work better imo.

35posts and 7days are easy to pass by.

say a user wants to sell some stuff... its easy for some1 to hold on for 7days...

but if we say.. there is limit of 3months and 100-150posts... user with intention to use only market will surely be disinterested in joining TE since the value of what he/she wants to sell will be decreased in that much period of time. And 100-150posts will not be easy to be passed by the means of spamming...not so easily i mean :P

This can be supported by referral system... that is... if the new member has been referred by some old and reputed member... he/she should be given concession on the post/time limit... Thus most of the genuine members get what they deserve and the newbies are tested for their patience and dedication to the spirit of community...
