BLOGbicon.jpg

ps:mods, its only ~100kb so please dont make it thumbnail :P

Edit: damn..i linked it to deviantart..and it didnt work

It looks good man...but IMO, i think it has too many colours...and the greeen being a contrasting colour, it distracts you away from the main body of the text...may be you should use complimentary colours ( red and orange is fine, but may be u can use some cooler colours)

here is the new version...i think its better than the previous one..also edited the header and added a new vector ..

and i want it to be a bit colorfull :P ...dont wanna give those dark metallic look

Looks good db, only suggestion would be to increase the width so it suits a 1024x768 screen area.

IMO, 1024x768 is not an all pervasive standard yet. 800x600 is still more common and provides backward compatibility.

Additionally, because of the menu at top and the existing design of the header, it looks little difficult to have a fluid design. So you will have to stick to a fix dimension and 800x600 seems just fine to me :)

ashish are you in 2006. i know 800*600 is popular even now but its fading

very fast. almost all the hits i get on my blog have 1024*768 min. well one

way to make this design fluid is to extend the right end of your menu all the

way to the right and also make top banner also extend the whole screen.

then you can have lots of space to write your posts.

one more suggestion it the font, dont have too many as you would get

distracted while reading have an uniformity in the fonts. like for all text use

one font and in the design everywhere use the same font.

800x600 is preferred for backward compatibility and also because horizontal bars look very ugly :) I think I will prefer to keep designs at 800x600 for about a year more.

I was responding to this post... it reads 1024x768 is not the standard yet, and implies 800x600 is. I'm correcting that. Backward compatibility is no question here because you got about 10-15% of internet users on average running 800x600.

Well, I used two terms even in that post - "all pervasive standard" and "backward compatibility" :) Meanings are clear I guess.

Even in the link that you provided, it says 13.81% (USA) and 12.04% (others) for 800x600. So it isn't less than 10%! It proves what I said. Its not "all pervasive standard"!! :|

And why is backward compatibility not an issue? I consider it important. You may not. I don't assume that visitors to my site will have latest things.

PS: We both seem to get into useless arguments over nothing. You look for whats implied and chose to ignore whats written. Cool off mate! Lets not keep hijacking threads like this. I assume you won't agree with me. You may assume likewise :D
