This snooping is not new to the govt of India.Since October, 2015, Indian Goverment in the centre has got itself a big tool made by IBM which snoops at every mail or digital transaction that seems suspicious & reads every text or mms message we send via any digital platform because the Indian Goverment got itself signed NDAs with every corporation that we use in our daily life. This tool can be used by certain officer of IPS cader who needs certain credentials in order to operate it. But not all sarkari babus even does not know of its existence. Because when I asked one of my nieces husband who is a SP of a Dist. in AP he said he does not even know that it exists.
Every 6 months every state DGP along with state chief secretaries attends a meeting held by Home ministry where they are given inputs regarding anybody's suspicious activities or any organisations/parties activities so that the state machinary will keep an eye on them along with centre.
Now regarding this new Income Tax Act 2025 which gives explicit jurisdiction to the central goverment to snoop into anybody's personal & professional emails and social media accounts is just that making it public only. Them saying that we will be snooping with people's knowledge this time around.
You know why they put this out now, just check some states top courts comments on citizens privacy being abused by central goverment citing national security claims. The centre does not want any conflict with any state high courts anymore. So they introduce this and be free from all accountability.
These states were all not aligned with BJPs policies or were aligned with the opposition.
It is not a secret that even judiciary is being used as a tool or a weapon either to protect those in power or malign those who are against.
Just google a name Anji Reddy, retired DGP of AP. He is my mother's brother.
He used to tell in 2018 that Privacy is a myth in India. It does not exist anymore.
But one thing I personally experienced & appreciate the centre about fast response was in June,2024 my kid used to get several calls from 3 men who used to speak some vulgarly where all 3 numbers were registered in Bihar. So my wife dialled 1930 and spoke with National Cyber Crime Bureau. They spoke for an hour with her and told her that they need to speak with my family personally and asked our address. The next day by morning 8.30am a man & a woman in civil dress came to our house and spoke with me, my wife, kid and my father in law. They asked how many used to call and how many times they used to call my kids number like such.
Later after 2 days they again called my wife and told her that they have put surveillance on the said numbers and came to know about 3 men in early 20s who are from Bihar and the local PS of those men's area called them and warned them and their Adhar IDs & phones were put under watch list and that we don't need to worry any longer. From then on no unscrupulous calls came to my kids phone ever.
This kind of response I never saw or experienced before. Because I used to see such rapid responses only in Hollywood movies.
