If you add &fmt=18 to the end of a Youtube clip, you will get a higher quality H.264 version of the clip. Especially useful if the clip doesn't have a "high quality" link. Load times are a bit longer, but the sound is in stereo and the resolution of the clip is upped to 480x360.

now add &fmt=18 to the link. Voila!

Note: This doesn't work for all clips, as youtube are still encoding their current database to the high quality standard. Anything with more than 100,000 views should be fine I guess.
 
Or you could simply check the setting to view the videos in the higher quality whenever available from the Settings page.

For videos that are not in higher quality, using this tweak would only give artificial, manually upscaled resolution and sound.
