^^ I don't think anyone's saying it would change their perception, but you have to agree that it'll keep nagging at the back of our mind. Specially if a non techie friend comes over and we tell him "My cabinet is called Bijlee", he would no doubt think its some el cheapo cabinet :P And whether its from france or any other part of the world, it'll still be a problem. A stupid name is a stupid name, no matter the language or the country.

Have to agree with you 100%, when i suggest some cabinets to be my friends (non-techy), they laugh when i say the name of these cabinets. So these days i suggest only Lava to anyone who wants a zebby cabinet:P

Again, same thing happens in Delta Peripherals, when they hear the name of the zebby cabinets in display over there their face goes eh:huh: what kind of name is this, i have seen it many times.

Branding goes a long way in giving a feel-good factor about the product. IMO, that's why Indian s/w companies find it hard to make it abroad with their products. They do not give a globally appealing name.

Then why don't you change your nick to Dhurandhar Bhatawdekar? :P

dhurandhar bhatawdekar "police commisioner" aka utpal dutt owns. was 1 of the most ownage movies of all time.

Its funny regarding the names we accept from other cultures suzuki- samurai or HH - CBZ (Hey!! its zee not 'z') kind of things. OTOH, it seems most of the jap photographers thought kodak was a cheapo brand for films and always trusted konica.

im ok with Basanti or Dhanno for a cabby ;)

totally off topic btw

^^ Its all to do with image. Bijlee and dhanno will bring up a certain image in our mind, which at least I wouldn't wish to associate with my PC. But if you have a component named Scythe Ninja........wakaw! :D

Giving the cabbies Indian names is not an issue, but look at the kind of names they are selecting   . Bijilee is still a good name by any standard.

They have the names of places like London, Hong Kong, Taipei, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Names of movies like Amar, Akbar, Antony, Rajaji, Krish, Names of people like Jhansi, Sivaji, Ashoka etc.

Imagine going to the shop and asking for Jhansi and they asking you back "With or without handle".

Back to cabinets, why dont we get Lian-Li's in India?? or is it available??

I used to have one when I didnt know what a good cabby meant. Now I have a 3year old zebby :(

I have been doing a lot of mulling & search on this subject of GOOD but INEXPENSIVE Computer Cabinet and Power supply, specially after having a real heart to heart talk with our friend Amarbir Dhillon of Lynx Chandigarh. It seems that the real culprit for major number of hardware failures is the sub spec. power supply bundled wth most Cabinets in Indian Market. I have decided to go with his suggestion for Coolermaster Elite 330 (RC-330) Cabinet- which has a Tool-Free mechanical design for quick assembly and maintenance 120mm fans in the front and rear to give your PC the best ventilation while maintaining silent cooling solution and best of course is bundled Cooler Master newly released eXtreme Power 380W all for Rs. 3363. This cabinet conforms to Intel standards for cooling.

I think we R getting distracted from the main issue, Issue is not the names of the cabinets, but SUITABILITY, PERFOMANCE of cabinets/power supplies. Now that I have decided to include a sparkle 7600GT into my AMD X2 3600 with MSI K9NGM2 ,160 GB (7200 RPM), KINGSTON DDR2 1 GB, 16 X SONY DRU830A Rig office usage 10-to 5- no overclock. Has any body- but any body got experience with Coolermaster Elite 330 (RC-330) Cabinet & coolermaster eXtreme Power 380W - also is this a good price for this combo.
