PC Peripherals Which mouse to buy?

Aces170

ex-Mod
So my MX 518's right click has stopped working. Have absolutely no clue on which are good VFM mouse at present, I liked MX 518's body, how is Microsoft Sidewinder X5, or is IE 3 a better bet? Razer products had high failure rates last I heard, have they improved now?

Hmm, what about the salmosa? Was going for 650 as part of the DOTD on prime.

NO idea on the failure rates, but you mentioned VFM

Get another MX518 or rather the G400 which is the new MX518.

I've heard Razer may have improved their Deathadder's quality, but dunno if it's true. I've got one for myself and using it since a few months. Let's see how long it lasts.

Damn, the Corsair M60 looks like a really well built mouse. The MX 518 looks so cheap in front of it
<

If I am not spending that much which would be better G400 or IE3? I am talking more on build quality and general feel of the mouse.

Yes Logitech G400-1.6k is vfm and would be a great choice.

Have bought the G 300 today will post about my impressions in a couple of days, it is a small mouse [a shade smaller than the Salmosa], but has a cool looking light system [which you can change for different custom profiles], sculpted ambidextrous design, nine programmable buttons.

Also it can carry 3 pre-set profiles on its own memory. So for ~1300/- quid it is a mighty deal, as long as you can forgive the size and a couple of other flaws [the bottom is painted RED looks sad], the scroll wheel is tinny and can feel a tad underwhelming [I am in love with my 24-click graded wheel from the Salmosa].

Hope this helps, cheers!!

just moved to a CM Storm SPAWN and liking it,have a 6month old Salmosa in perfect condition if you're interested.

VFM suggest, iBALL Laser mouse for Rs 450/- only.

No. way.. iball is just a cheap company thats just surviving due to very heavy advertising and depending on people who are not looking for quality. VFM is when you get quality at a decent price, not cheap quality at a cheap price..

You want quality, you want VFM, theres just one contender, and thats logitech. the best mouse company that there is..

apart from this, all the discussions about the corsair, razer etc.. they may make some funky looking futuristic designs.. but logitech is the one you will end up loving in your hand for long term usage.. logitech offers the best functionality and the most simple basic design required to actually be comfortable on our hands. . smooth round edges, with a size and shape perfected so that one's whole palm can rest comfortably on it.

No hard feelings here, its just that i feel very strongly for logitech. After15 yrs of using computers and stuff, i have really observed and experienced and come to respect logitech in terms of everything.. their product, the quality of their product, and the pricing of their products..

even the most extensive usage like gaming requires a comfortable mouse and precision, not some alienistic looking mouse with razor sharp edges just to make it look wicked.. the other mice may have the precision, but they definitely are not as comfortable as the logitech.

once again.. no offence to anyone.. just putting my views very strongly.

Putting views strongly doesnt mean the other manufacturers are so bad as depicted above

I support Logitech too, but on a personal note, I find my DA a lot comfortable than my friends mx518, perfect for palm grip users like me.. Views differ, but all those are good manufacturers IMO Corsair, Logitech, Razer ..Support and warranty wise Logitech is a winner atleast here in India.

I take that as a compliment and a matter of pride..

and i didnt mean to aim at corsair and razer. they are good brands too. main purpose was to insult companies like Iball, genius, enter, frontech, techcom etc. etc. all the cheap local brands.. and especially iball. I hate iBall products. .

Hey i didnt mean any offence to anyone.. but with all due respect, an optical mouse from Logitech, corsair, razer..etc. will work much much better than a laser mouse from iBall. theres no point buying a laser mouse just for the sake of it..

Razer build quality is not that great. My DA's mouse wheel stopped functioning properly and this happened within 1 year of purchase.I have also seen many other people complain about problems with buttons. You should look for other brands with better build quality. My bet is on steel series.

@puneetritehere

You are my new best friend. I also pity the noobs who buy cheap peripherals and I absolutely hate iball.

@adi

If you think Logitech fanboy is unusual, what will you say when you meet somebody who is iball fanboy?

Yup. I know one such guy. He owns iball cabinet, keyboard, mouse, headphones,Bluetooth headsets,5.1 speaker system?

@everyone.. I agree that brands such as corsair and razor are also quite decent.. but its like when you want to compare with the best of the best, Logitech always wins the competition with them. In terms of build quality, functioning as well as service..

corsair is mainly an excellent brand for memory products.. Logitech is one of the best at most of the products it manufactures.. the mice, keyboards, gaming wheels, joysticks etc. etc.. the only thing it lacks is in the quality of speakers.. and that too with sound quality. the build quality of all logitech products is top notch.. and it doesnt even charge exorbitant prices for the quality it offers.. i dont see why people want to waste their money on crappy brands rather than spend a couple of hundred bucks extra, and buy a quality product, which will not only be worth it because it will have a much longer life, but it also provides a better user experience continuously through its lifetime.

Logitech is a specialist brand in the variety of human interface devices it manufactures.. there are other decent brands too, as mentioned earlier, but when it comes to side by side comparison, it always still wins the competition, all the time, and not by a small margin..

yeah exactly.. and if being a logitech fan is unusual, i dont know what we will call people who are obsessed with 2.1 speakers from bloody Intex and iBall.. and why iBall?? i dont get it.. it couldnt even come up with a decent name for its company.. its the cheap street level thinking, just put an 'i', small case, like Apples line of products, and you've got people getting impressed and drooling all over your products thinking that your products belong to the Apple Lineage.. I still remember from 5 yrs back, my friend bought an iBall mouse, the body was half transparent plastic, filled with water, with a plastic fish floating inside..

WTF is that about??? cooler operations?? i mean.. who tries to sell mice, by making it look like a kids toy.. I know even Logitech offers mice with colour schemes that are attractive to children, but atleast the functionality is not compromised..

this just shows that companies that iBall are not even concerned about the functional aspect of a computer product. they are just cashing in on by rocking their boats in a very very large market.... they dont think how to make their mice better.. its more like they are selling some kind of fashion accessory.. otherwise, like Logitech, a company which concentrates on increasing the accuracy of their mice, the comfort level, the ruggedness, looks along with it, and a pleasant user experience, Logitech would not concentrate on 'dressing' up their products like a barbie doll...
