Karnataka Elections 2018

Section 153A of the IPC prohibits hate speech and punishes any form of action or communication that leads to disharmony or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will among people. The maximum punishment is three years in jail.

Section 505, on the other hand, punishes statements that amount to public mischief. Both sections have the ramifications similar to section 66A, but unlike it, are non-bailable offences.

A more potent tool is available to the victim of fake news under the Indian Penal Code. IPC Sections 153 and 295 can be invoked to guard against fake news. Seen from the prism of Sections 153 and 295, action can be initiated against someone creating or spreading fake news if it can be termed as hate speech.

Sad truth is nobody in Karnataka gives a damn about corruption. Yeddy Reddy is no problem

It's not registering apparently, people see either party as equally corrupt so what is the big difference if either come in

So its just lip service to say will do somethng about corruption

I've wondered the same thing about Marathis & NCP. In this case answer was three terms

Other states also in their state assemblies voted to stay with the same party

Its interesting that when ever EVM's "malfunction", it almost always take the shape of votes getting registered for BJP. regardless of button pressed. Read news that 5 polling booths had such malfunctioning. One booth had VVPAT showing vote for independent candidates.

BJP owns the election commission with appointment of all of its cronies and gujarat cadre officials in it. And its done subtly.
Some places where BJP is famously weak, votes go to independents. Where its a tough fight, its set in a way to cover the divide just enough to get the bjp guy through. In places with its important leaders, its tweaked for huge margins. In places of big opposition leaders, its tweaked to add votes to reduce their margin of win and make opposition leaders seem weak.

ITs done in a way to ensure the results themselves dont show tampering in an obvious way. And the tweaking is just enough- like 10-15% margins, never more to keep pretence of public mood being visible in results..

There was a BJP minister who wrote a book about how he thinks EVM's cannot be trusted back in 2010. Of course this was the reason they lost back in 2009 :rolleyes:

Every party alleges some sort of malfunction, rigging, you name it....when they lose. But are quiet when they win

To date nobody has brought any evidence despite the EC holding hackathons but of course there are many theories....
