Just wanted to know about the different Ultrabooks available in India from different manufacturers. Please share prices, reviews, performance related stuff, etc. Thanks. I think Acer was the first to launch a model in India. Not sure about other manufacturers. I had also heard that Dell is planning to release a 13" Ultrabook soon too.

EDIT :

The following models have been launched in India supposedly :

Acer Asipre S3 - Rs. 50K approx pricing

Asus Zenbook UX31E - Rs. 90K approx

Lenovo IdeaPad U300S - Rs. 68K approx

I like the thinkpad ultrabook - t430u/s or something. Also people considering ultrabooks should pay attention to the thinkpad x220.

Is something wrong with the Thinkpad X220?

Any idea about the price of the X220 currently?

For prices ask sunny27. As for problem with the X220, there are none, but its a joke between me, sunny @ soulfire

I bought my x220 from Ebay.com where prices range between 700$ for the core i5 version with 6 cell battery to 1000$ with the core i7 version with the 9 cell battery. Pre-installed OS is Windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Were you charged any customs duty?

No. I shipped the laptop to a friend residing in the US. He got it along with him when he came to India and he wasn't charged anything at the airport/customs either.

I am looking for a purchase within 2 weeks or so. When will the Asus one be available and for what price if you have any idea? Thanks.

i dont have any idea about the launch or pricing of any other ultrabook, but 2 weeks is not much time, better to finalise from the existing options.

Ultrabooks are good other than that they mostly have SSDs so you're basically getting lower disk space even after paying a premium (I know, I know... faster booting times and app launches, but I'd like more space and won't mind waiting for additional second or two).
