As you must have noticed we have a very functional portal on TE now but its useful only if we have content on it. For this purpose we need a large group of News Authors.

Won't it be nice if you can get paid doing what you love which is following tech updates around the world and specially in India?

Some of the requirements have changed a bit. So just PM me for updated requirements if you are interested. The part that has changed is highlighted with e strike through below.

The simple ask from this position is:

  • The authors need to submit at least 5 news items and at most 10 news items a month. Each news items must be atleast 300 words in length and should be worded originally. We don't want copy paste jobs. (Depending on the quality and commitment from the author, we will increase this 10 news item limit in future)
  • You can go through the recent news on various websites, pick a compelling topic and write a news item on that. You are free to choose any recent news. It could be a product launch with specifications for example.

What an author gets in return:
  • We will give INR100 per article. So the minimum an author can earn is INR500 per month.

The value proposition in such a small amout:
  • You could be anyone looking to earn some extra pocketmoney to cover your internet expense doing what you love.
  • Since following daily tech news is anyway your passion you will not need to spend any extra time from your busy schedule. You only need to invest 15 minutes a day, 10 days a month.
  • At the end of the month you can earn INR1000 which will be more than enough to cover your internet bill. So in effect you are getting free internet every month doing what you love and downloading as much as you want on your internet connection.

Other aspects:
  • An average engg graduate earns about 30K per month. Considering they work for 22 days a month for 9 hours a day. They earn about INR38 for every 15 minutes. We are giving them INR100 for the same time.
  • You can register with a completely new username to post news items if you want to keep your identity a secret.

How can you apply:
  • Send me a PM along with a couple of sample write ups of recent news. You should also have a 300x200 picture to be used with that news item and the source link.
  • We intend to select around 15 authors
  • You can also mention your area of interest. Though you won't have to restrict your news items to that category if you are selected. This will just help us plan ample represenation from each of the following category.
    • 1. Internet
    • 2. Gaming
    • 3. PC Hardware
    • 4. Mobile Computing Hardware and other Electronic Goods
  • There is no deadline for applying for this position and you can start off as soon as your samples are approved. When we run out of open positions we will let you all know.

PS: If you want, Safin has offered to pitch in with a company certificate or recommendation. More on this after you get picked.
 
Qualifications no bar as we will be looking at the samples and the overall quality over time.

Format you are free to choose. If we feel that tweaking the format can make the article better then we will let the author know.

Can there be a more casual offering without being employed per se? like 50 for an article selected to the portal and more for an article selected as article of the month or week.

Anyway, nice move... hoping for a bunch of even better quality articles here on TE

This is a news item so you can say its like a preview. We are looking for current news so that all the members and readers of TE get all the latest news here on TE itself.

See our objective is that there should be fresh and latest news for everyone. I thing you are confusing it with guides and reviews. We will start something for that later and award the best articles (guide/review). This opening is ONLY for news posters who can look around on the net and bring news back to TE.
 
Alright... what about the random news some of us might bring in? Does that make it to portal too, even though they are not paid.
 
Every news and every article should soon be posted to the portal directly. It will flow back to the forums for comments. The section on forum will soon be closed for new threads.

Though for news its really upto the members. They are free to post in the respective sections too. The news author group will have to post on the portal.
 
if its news/scoop which is to be declared on the forum. the members might want some proof to the story .

so in that case is it necessary to post the original link or the original link need to be included just for referral purposes to the mods ?
 
Yes a source link would be needed atleast for the mods. You can choose not to include it in the article itself if there is a concern (like if its a news scoop). We would ideally prefer that you post the source link.
 
Yes you can write on anything that TE tech sections deal in. As already mentioned those are indicative sections only.

Maybe I should have mentioned -
  • Mobile Computing Hardware and other Electronics
 
What will be the categories for Software ????

can we have a different categories ???

And at last I think I can do some part time job in this rural area

Also can we submit more than one piece as a sample of our skill and enthusiasm? Sorry for so many queries. Cheers!!
 
We ideally wanted two news items so you can definitely submit more than one. We will take a day to review the sample and get back to the authors. So whoever has submitted today will get a green signal by tomorrow.
