Which one should I get: HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

Hello all,

I want to buy new mobile in price range of 25-30k(max-no increase)

I have done my research prior and rounded up these two final options

I was fixed on Galaxy Nexus but then found that One X was available for around 32k(imported version) so considered it
I have a question to Gnex owners here: The GPU on GNex is almost 1.5 years or so old, so does that affect the performance(in browser, multitasking etc)? I am not considered with games that much because I wont be playing more than Temple Run/Angry Birds, Also I will root it and install Custom ROMS the moment I get, if that helps

This is only the reason I considered One X

There are other options in this range, I have not considered them because:
Xperia S: Still stuck on Gingerbread, with no ROMS of ICS leave alone Jelly Bean
MotoRazr: Common sense dictates to go for Gnex than this

Waiting for some replies

Galaxy Nexus is much cheaper than One X. It's gpu handles almost all games. On jelly bean there is absolutely no lag in browsing or multitasking.

There are loads of custom roms and you will probably get the next android update instantly.

Only issue is the warranty. There are also lot of people reporting poor wifi and signal reception. My Gnex has poor wifi reception. Not sure how to solve it. Hopefully there will be some update from Google.

HTC One X certainly has better hardware and camera. But updates will be a little slow.

One X is any day better.... but price range of 25-30k(max-no increase), one x is more than 30K

I will buy from eBay, will get a 5% off coupon so price will settle around 30k

I have no issue with warranty, also camera is not the deciding factor(but if its better always a plus point)
About the WiFi issues, you have your own network at home or use one of the public Hotspots?

compared to which phone mate? for me, it seems decent, not as good as my trusty N79, but still decent compared with other smartphones....

HTC officially issued a statement acknowledging the hardware fault which leads to poor or no WiFi reception on One X
Apparently the "antenna spring" is lose on some models, and there is no other way then to send it to repair
so @manu1991 might have received one of the faulty pieces
There is one -1 minus point for One X now

Thnx for the reply, dint know some batches had issues.

I would recokmend a One X for the following reasons.

- Build quality is better than GNex
- Better screen
- Better Camera
- More internal memory
- Although Nexus already has JB, it being an incremental upgrade over ICS isnt that big a reason to go for Nexus. And there is always XDA. (My personal opinion..!)
- One X will also get JB
- Stock HTC roms are very well customised.

Also, if you have an American Express Card you can get a 15% discount at gadgetsguru.com and indiatimesshopping.com which may bring a One X within the 30k price bracket and it will be with local warranty.

My 2 cents..

Also, the AT&T HTC One X has only 16GB non expandable memory and it uses the Krait chipset which shares RAM for the GPU as a result of which some people were reporting poor performance while multitasking. that is why the US version of the Galaxy S3 comes with 2GB of RAM.

My problem is different from that. I get very good signal strength at all places but sometimes in between, the internet stops working. I cannot use it in any app, if I switch off and on the wifi, it starts working again. I am guessing its a software problem.

allrounder799 Why do you wish to buy Imported One X? Because Indian Version with HTC India Warranty are available at around 32K

Source please?

In addition to that there are some points due to which I am considering GNex now
-Above mentioned WiFi issue
-At&T models have locked bootloader
-your mentioned point of shared RAM and low internal memory
-No stable JB ROM at moment
-No that good audio quality, beats is just a software trick so not hat of much use(I consider it as decision altering point)

So finally have decided to go with Galaxy Nexus

- Gnex build quality isn't that bad. It does look like a premium phone
- Gnex super amoled screen is amazing. On par with One X
- Indoor or low light shots are pretty bad on Gnex
- I guess 16gb should be sufficient for most people
- JB is absolutely lag free. It's buttery smooth. You will for sure see the difference when you compare it with a phone running on ICS
- By the time One X gets JB Gnex will get Key Lime Pie. :)
- You will get bored of stock roms

I agree HTC One X has better hardware and camera. But JB and possibly the next android update will be better optimized to Gnex. And Gnex is much cheaper than One X. Although both have some issues with wifi fi.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first device running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes with 5 mega pixel camera with autofocus and long battery life. Its features are great such as bigger touch screen, Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, HTML and Adobe Flash browsers etc. I personally recommend you should get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
