Hi all,

I'm in need of a good in ear - earphone. I'm a bass fan! My budget is around 1.5k at max. Also, since i'll be listing to music from my phone most of the times, are there any good ones with mic out there? (although it isn't a primary requirement)

TIA

For your needs check out the following --
  • SoundMAGIC PL-11 ~500/-
  • SoundMAGIC MP-21 ~1200/-
  • JVC Marshmallows ~500/-
  • VSONIC GR 99 ~1599/-
Which phone do you have to power these?

@ALPHA17
SoundMAGIC PL-11 ~500/-
where to get it @500 ?
also GR99 comes upto ~1800 after tax from HiFinage
@blueren
also
1. ES18 Sound Magic ES 18 Headphone | Headphone | Flipkart.com
2. Philips SHE3570BK Philips SHE3570BK In-the-ear Headphone | Headphone | Flipkart.com
are an option in addition to those mentioned by @ALPHA17

Yes saw the pricing and my jaw fell, these were retailing much cheaper earlier.

You can contact these guys for better prices --> Sound Magic (prices are still screwed up), though shipping charges are exclusive of the total cost so add that. At the cost the PL-11 is going now, the PL-21 and VSONIC GR99 are much better buys.

Thanks. By the way, how is the Creative EP-630?

Creative EP-630 earphone In-the-ear Headphone | Headphone | Flipkart.com

Although this sounds silly, is the quality of sound and cost directly related? Since 1.5k is my max, I don't mind looking for something in that range...
But should be worthy, though.

Lacks a sound-stage and most important the bass is very over-powering, in fact these are over-rated in today's IEM infested market.

Go for the SoundMAGI ES-18 / PL-21 if you want bass, the PL-21 is really good. I enjoy its bass, it is controlled and thus does not drown out other aspects of the music like the vocals and treble although the highs tend to be harsh and high pitched sounds crack / shatter (only observable with the volume turned up).

The GR99 is another good option though slightly out of your budget.

P.S. -- if you go to the local PC market you can get the OEM version of the EP-630 from DeLL resellers for as low as ~500/- quid. I had bought a pair for ~450/- in Secunderabad.

Thanks. So let's narrow down on gr99 / pl 21 / e10 now :D

What and where is the place to get them for the best price? Flipkart? Also, is there a difference between e10 and e10m?

Which of the above three would by ok?

@blueren
E10 costs Rs.1500/-
E10m (mic version) costs ~2000/-
compare sites before buying not one site offers everything ........ HS18 for E10........Flipkart/HS18 for E10M/PL21............Hifinage for GR99........

500 Quid = 500 pounds :P

Guess the sound magic offerings a slightly better. Haven't heard them though, some pretty decent reviews.

I know, just substitute pound with INR.

That way I cannot even write guineas here then and bucks sounds too casual to me.

You can also get these from SMC International, Nehru Place. Check their prices as well, listed here --> http://www.smcinternational.in/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=52&Itemid=465.

flipkart.com and homeshop18 might charge more than SMC International but have free shipping whereas the latter charges 100 guineas for courier.

I recommend the PL-21 OR GR99 take your pick between these.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Is there any diff between Pl21 and MP21?

No, just that the MP21 comes with a mic, the PL-21 does not; both the IEM's share the same drivers, cabling and housing apart from that one difference.

In the SoundMAGIC naming convention, adding a 'M' instead of 'P' = microphone version of equivalent product in their lineup.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!
