Which VFM DTH for me (HD not important), Pune area ?

I will need to get a new cable / DTH connection at my recently rented flat in
Pune. I am not keen on getting the cable as I know the one which provides connection in my area is not reliable.
So mostly I will go with some good DTH provider. As of now HD channels is not necessary as the tv being used will be CRT 29". In future i might go for HD channels but it is not important.
In terms of channels, my main requirements will be the usual star plus, Sony, colors and all Hindi channels which show all soaps, natgeo, discovery, tlc will be good to have.
English, sports and news are totally unnecessary. 1 Gujarati channel etv Gujarati

Which would the best VFM service provider for me ? I don't want Airtel DTH as i have had bad experience with them before. Videocon D2H, tata sky, any other ?
Hope to have a provider with decent customer service and fast installation and overall value for money.
 
Yes I did check Videocon d2h and the basic 200 Rs pack fulfills my needs of all the required channels. Btw what is the initial costs that I would be expected to pay ? Never taken a DTH before so am unsure about all these.
 
there was some iBF offer with videocon d2h seek for that.else pm your number . there is osme refferal discount with videocon d2h.
 
Videocond2H is Good, Don't ever Go with tata sky. I think there are some promotions running on D2H, IIRC on Annual subscriptions with Free Box.

you will have to pay Rs 1690 flat + 1 month of Super gold pack free

Videocon D2H will fit your budget. There is offer if you pay for 1 year in advance, SD box comes for free. Most good channels in 200 Rs with tax is a good deal.
I guess that pack will not have HBO & Star movies.

Are you Gujju ?

I checked D2H website and yes it does fit my requirements. Now initial cost with some gold pack 1 month is 1690 rupees.

Now is this offer actually there that i get SD Box free if i pay for one year in one go ?
Asking because my calculation says that if i stay with their service for a year and pay in one go i should be paying

2400 (for 12 months) along with the SD Box

If i do not pay in one go then i pay

1690 + (11 x 200) = 1690 + 2200 = 3890 Rs ?

Is my calculation flawed (not counting taxes etc for now) ?

And yes i am Gujju :)
 
200 Rs is with Tax So per year 2400 Rs for everything.

Have a word with their customer care or talk to some local shop guy who deals with it. I read on dealsupto.com site.

I would also reckon ICC but if your area does not have ICC then DTH would be better.
ICC is increasing the no of HD channels and are providing new STB from Jan which will have DVR facility enabled. Just plug in ur HDD.

Lol absolutely not offended.
But let me tell you, if one is in USA and follows websites likes slickdeals everyday you know how to capitalize on these deals. The best deals are NOT on black Friday but they keep on coming all year round.

You see HD and DVR are something that I am not really interested. I will have a normal CRT TV here in Pune.
Normal STB would be fine for me.
From all the looks of it I see Videocon DTH seems best for my needs.
 
there was an indian broadband forum offer during diwali time. not sure if its till on.apart from that online booking and cash transfer gives you cashback so total cost gets reduced.also referral too get you some cashback which might benefit both the referer and the new customer.other than long time recharges and online recharge sites give periodocal 10 % cashback and the videocon website itself offer 3 % casjback on netbanking cash transfersyou need to account for those discounts too

ohh I see. In that case I guess any DTH with the cheapest package cost should do.
I saw the STB of D2H at a frnds place. Its very small in size just like a modem or router... And of all major DTH operators I find their packages very economical.

that offer is gone i guess. I did see that IBF thread.
 
Go with Videocon D2H,been using it from the past 4-5months and their service has been top notch
Even their CC is fast and helpful,their basic SD charges start with Rs 1590 as an initial payment which includes your activation and installation charges
Now,they may charge you for the coax wire if goes beyond 12m(From the Dish to STB) so don't get shocked about the sudden mention of the charges because it is not clearly mentioned on their website but you can get away with it,plus your a gujju ;)

So all you have to pay while registering online is Rs 1590 and you are good to go
Installation time depends on your location,I registered on a Sunday afternoon and I was watching videocon D2H by late evening on the same day
