Storage Solutions Western Digital Issues, RMA problems, Service deficiency Thread.

Hi,

I recently sent my drive for RMA to WD. The drive was picked up on 09/11/2012 and the drive reached them on 12/11/2012. They were on a holiday from 12-14 so nothing much happened. On the 15th they dispatched my new drive. So hopeully will get my my drive next week.

But I have one query.

Model of Sent Model (by Me): WDBAAF0010HBK
Model of HDD dispatched by them: WDBAAF0010HBK-NESN

I just want to know what is the difference between the two and what does NESN signify?

Please assist

I have booked the RMA for my three WD HDD in the previous month 21.10.12 and they call me yesterday for RMA conformation and for taking my HDD.

I had booked my 1 Tb green drive for RMA, they did not collect it on the said date. Then after emailing about issue, they did some kind of advanced replacement and got the drive today but re certified.
Total days taken = 17 days.
I still have the old drive with me, wonder when they will take it.

WD was constantly confirming that they will be sending someone to pick up the drive on so and so date and then no one turns up. Tried of waiting, i requested whether i can courier the drive myself. After couriering the drive they would not change the status from booked at their site. Their customer support doesn't reply to mails for a month. After a month the reply is that they will escalate the matter, without confirming whether they have received the drive or not!

Ultimately got the replacement. Wont be buying anymore WD drives. Experience with sea gate RMA was really good which was made after the rma request to WD and replacement was received way earlier. Even WDs packing is cheap.

they sent 8 MB cache drive instead of the 16 MB one ( WD5000aaks sent and WD5000aajs received) ...is there a difference?

recenty bought wd 2tb green drive, but it is giving me very slow slow data copy speed intra hdd aswell as to inter hdd , wheras my old 1.5 seagate is giving very good speed.

some one plz tell me what to do.

earlier i thought this could be bacause i was on xp but same problem remained when i switched to window 8.

i am having intel caor to due 7400 , p5kplcm asus motherboard and 2gb ram.

thanks

Booked the RMA on 11-12-12 for my 2 TB My Passport Drive, which went bad in a week of getting it, they where supposed to schedule the pick up on 17th Dec which didn't happen (as expected) .
Finally some one from Felxtronics came yesterday and picked up the faulty drive, now waiting for the replacement.

Rma created on 29.12.2012 for my my book white light. I opted for no pickup and sent the drive thru professional courier on 29th. Drive reaches wd 31.12.2012. But WD said they got it on 3.01.2013. Today 09.01.2013, I got my replacement drive. Seems services have improved than before.

What is WD policy on bad sectors? I have. 1-2 bad sectors on my 1TB HDD in warranty.

Download WD tool and check if it can repair the Bad sectors else submit a RMA request and they will replace your HDD with a certified repaired HDD. (if you are lucky you may get higher capacity new hdd)

Is there anyway to get the replacement drive before they take the old one? Like before?

i have also registered an RMA of WD hard drive. its in mumbai and have scheduled a courier pick up. will the courier people call us or we have to go personally to their office to give the HD. and after how many days do we get back the drive

my new WD desktop HD showed a failed smart test and i have registered for an RMA. do they replace or just repair the HD

^ Replace with recertified drives. Courier pickup is a lottery. If you're in a hurry, you can mail it in yourself (properly packed) or drop it in at the address mentioned a few posts above. How many days to get it back is a lottery too, might take a few days or weeks. Read some of the previous posts to get an idea of what sort of turnaround times people are seeing.

so it all depends on luck factor
