Can I get B.tech in computer engineering without PCM

Physics, Chemistry is hard for me. I'm thinking of applying for commerce. But will I be able to do computer engineering without PCM? Does Physics and Chemistry even have any application in computer engineering? If not, then why is it required?

My understanding is that in India if you want to do computer engineering or any kind of engineering then you need to have PCM (Maths or Bio) in class 11th and 12th. If you do commerce then you can probably do something like BCA and then MCA later or Computer Science as a course.
 
AFAIK physics, chemistry and maths are Compulsory for passing the first year in any college. Maths has 4 papers M-1,M-2,M-3,M-4. You may need basic maths for programming . physics and chemistry are a waste of time . They are there because the universities decided so .
 
Only basic level of phyics and chemistry is required in the first year of Btech. You can just manage to pass them and still do good in Computer science. Its a great career choice.
 
wait let me ask my friend who when asked what he wanted to become said "I want to become an engineer by taking commerce" :p
PCM of fe is damn easy.You just need to mug up some formulaes and theory and you're good to go.Maths will be little bit on the tougher side.
 
PCM is mandatory to get an admission in Engineering (BE or BTech). Since there is maths (M1, M2, M3 and M4 for some branches) you will have to learn the basics before taking admissions in Engineering course. Same applies for Physics and Chemistry.
 
You can always get into Engineering by doing a Diploma for 3 yrs and then B.E for 3 yrs(Direct admit into 2nd yr)
Well, at least that is what i did
I never wanted to do HSC in the first place because i was shit scared of not scoring and then ending up with a simple Bsc degree
So,instead went with Diploma in Computer Engg. then B.E in CS

even though it might be possible without PCM, colleges will look at you as a second grade citizen later. Though you feel that it is tough; its actually not, I advise you to go for PCM.

Unless you plan to study abroad,the answer is no.but to get a job as a software engineer you dont need to study computer science,engineering degree in any field or any degree related to maths and statistics will do.but to compensate a lack of computer cience degree you need to be rxtremely talented in programming
 
BCA & then MCA is good option, but Maths will be still needed AFAIK.

Why are you so afraid of PCM, i occasionally teach people Maths & Chemistry, its damn easy may be its a matter of interest also !!
