PMI or Prince 2 Certification?

Hey.. Can you guys throw some light one these two?I am planning to take up prince2 certification I am Senior software engineer and plan to move away from the technical area after 7.5 years in Software Testing. I believe this course will help me with opportunities in a more functional role in Managerial space.

If anyone among you knows how this certification has or does actually enhance you resume, I would be delighted to hear about it.
I know that Prince2 is more IT oriented and very well recognized in Europe. While PMI is the foundation of PMP, more US-known and generic to any industry.

What do you guys think?How would the prospects be?

I have not done yet reason being, the candidate should be a Manager or a Lead position then only this will help for future work profile. Currently I am a Senior Test Engineer so may be after 1-2 years.

ohh, right you need minimum of 4500 hours of project management experience to qualify.
