You got 16gb iPhone 4 from eBay.com ? It was bidding or buy it now ? I am also Looking for buying iPhone 4.
You bought through which service and how did you go about ordering it and coordinating with the USA to India shipper ?
Also was it factory unlocked or AT&T and then you unlocked using some
eBay listing ?

I have few questions:
1. How much is the duty on mobile phones and mobile accessories ???
2. Phone is delivered at US address, but their plan is postponed to come to India. So which is cheap n best courier service to ship it to India ?
3. What if I declare phone as 2nd hand & quote lesser value(actually phone is new Nexus 5 32gb one but opened to check the phone, what shud i quote?)
4. What if phone is stuck at Customs, then how much penalty/charges do I need to pay?
Last, any other possible way to bring phone to India by last week of Nov.

1. 7% plus vat on mobile phones, 16-20% on accessories.
2.which us address? Personal al or freight forwarders?
3. If you do that, they'll still use 30k as phone value. As they will open package themselves and might steal it too if sent by USPS. Packages are completely insured while using hopshopgo, and insured upto 200$ while using ppobox
4 . penalty is 35% plus 6k if u are caught importing without license.
The rules are very ambiguous... Fastest way is using hopshopgo/ppobox, sending it via dhl yourself might cost you 60-70$..
The companies like hopshopgo have tie up with dhl and fedex hence rates are less, if u individually try fedex/dhl it will be very costly, and risky at customs clearance stage, also the package won't be insured. You can ship the package to hopshopgo after reducing it's volumetric weight.. And you'll be charged minimum for shipping..
21$ for standard shipping, 24$ for express shipping, insurance is a certain low percentage, customs @7%.check their website for calculator.. Weight 500g.
Otherwise go with ppobox.. Shipping will be around 500-700..customs @7%,insurance upto 200$.

Now the story is that Google has now delivered the phone so late at the friend's US address in Columbia, SC.
Where to check that hopshopgo is there or they can pickup the package ?
I want to go by no-hiccup route, let me know !!
