Buying from US - Best Deals - Discussion Thread

Yeah just checked. In INR, the rates are like this:

Items: INR 1697
S&H: INR 569.70

Import Fees before deposit: INR 700.42 (which kills the deal :()

Total: INR 2967.80

I think I'll pass. May be I shall ask a friend to pick it up and bring it over. :(

Guys, I am thinking of sourcing a title through Amazon Global. The price is pretty decent (29.74 USD!).

This is the one (hasn't released here) - Amazon.com: Journey Collector's Edition: Video Games

If someone has sourced titles or blu-ray discs via the Amazon Global program, could you please shed some light on the duties charged? I am planning to opt for the cheapest shipping option. Someone here did mention that they used a specific courier (and not India Post) to deliver the consignment within India but it was some unknown courier IIRC.

How do you source the titles? Via the regular method or the global program?

Knowing Amazon's good customer support, I have no qualms if some issue arises later on but I hope that doesn't happen.

Many TIA!

Don't fret over the Import deposit. If it's not charged (and it won't be as this is just a single game we're talking about), you will get a refund of the same as soon as AMZ hears from the shipper (i.e. Aramex in most of the cases).
I've even got refunds in cases when AMZ/Aramex were actually charged customs. Do remember it can take UPTO 60 days for the refund to be processed.
Hope this helps ! :)

Ok now that's a bit consoling. :)

Thanks a bunch Alekh. I guess I shall place the order shortly. Let me get back from my ship's trials.

/Headed to the port in a couple of hours from now. Will be without any sort of communication - no internet, phone, nothing! X-(

The displayed price is all inclusive except Octroi depending on your state.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but has anyone been able to claim Asus Global Warranty successfully over here in India.
I am thinking of buying a Zenbook Prime and they carry 1 year global warranty. Any idea who handles RMA for Asus laptops. Also will I be able to buy extended warranty for the same in India.

Any best mobile to buy in amazon USA site directly? One of my cousin is returning from USA next week and asked me about which mobile i want. Please suggest me some best mobiles which will benefit in buying directly in USA rather than buying it from here. Cost <=10k INR. Can add some more cash if worth buying. Android OS. GSM Unlocked.

If you can stretch your budget, I would suggest:

What s new in this?
. How is it different from Micromax Canvas HD and karbonn titanium S5?

Few pointers for choosing Blu Life Play over Micromax Canvas HD:
  • LED-backlit IPS
  • Higher pixel density (312 vs 294)
  • Dual standby
  • HSDPA, 42 Mbps; HSUPA, 21 Mbps vs HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 11 Mbps
  • Better camera with image stabilization, face and smile detection, HDR

In addition build quality for Micromax seems inferior to me. My Pantech Burst gives me better feel in terms of build quality.
