To me personally, 7 incher is a useless gadget. Not small enough to fit in pockets, not big enough to read magazines/pdfs. Even 8 inch is not enough after having used ipad mini. And if i were to really go with a 10 incher, i would go with ipad air. Its awesome. So light and gorgeous display. Its a no brainer. And in the 10 inch segment, ifeel Sony and Samsung are overpriced.

Again its a personal opinion.
For me 7" is perfect. 10" is way too big for me. I use my tab mainly in the bus while travelling to and fro office, manily for watching videos, reading PDFs and for browsing.IF I had to carry 10" then I would buy a slim laptop.
The small tablets sell more than the big one i suppose, hence the market is overflooded with these 7 inchers.

I own a 7" Nexus and 10" (sort of) iPad 2 and i have to agree with you on this. I really like using the iPad more due to the size.
The Nexus was never bought for browsing or anything and is used for watching videos in office bus but sometimes i do browse and it is really a pain for me. Always have to been zooming on things.
But yes there is a huge market for the 7" ones out there and size is a reason for sure. I have seen many people in my office carry one. It is definitely far more portable than a full fledged iPad size one.

Yes portability is a main factor for me going for 7" tablet.
For everything else I have my laptop.
I am currently typing this from my nexus 7. :p

I can never understand bringing a tab to office :P . Some of my friends who bring it , have to carry it everywhere due to fear of theft. It is such a nuisance dragging it along in one hand. I even dumped my 5 inch phone as it was getting a tad too large for my tastes. Currently on the hunt for a good budget 4 inch phone after selling off some of my stuff.

Theft is actually a very valid point. It plagues me too. When i go for lunch or tea or something. But then i have an option of putting it in my drawer and lock and take key with me. I sort of need the tab since i watch TV shows in mornings and evenings when traveling. I have used my phone for this before but at 3.5" screen on my iPhone, it isn't really for long term video watching.

How will you cope with the smaller font size on a 4 inch phone ?

you will get more one hand use for sure and portability as well. The Z1c right now not budget but best for its size had people saying they wanted it because they had smaller hands. I don't know how small their hands are. A friend who had a 5 incher said he got used to it. Seems you could not get used to it. As you're on ipad already then a second hand iphone is going to be better.

Portability, performance etc are better on a 4 incher because it has lower resolution but you compromise on readability not in terms of ppi but font size, if you don't need the reading part then you get away with it. What i noticed is people with 4 inchers are never too far away from a bigger screen for too long if they need one. Not that you can read a lot on 5 inches but you don't need to hold the phone up to your face as often. Arms length is more feasible. This is the same thing i noticed with the bigger tabs, you can read them from further away so the weight does not become too obvious as its always resting on something.[DOUBLEPOST=1396524870][/DOUBLEPOST]

yeah that is the key point here when dealing with smaller screens. Long term means must be easier to see/read.

But N7 is the VFM tablet. :p
But then if you can afford it then iPad all the way, infact iOS all the way. :P
I own a iPod Touch 4G, so i know.

If cost wasn't an issue I would have got an iPad mini for my video watching because I know that with iOS my device usage wouldn't have stopped at watching videos only. But the cost of mini is too prohibitive for me to buy for primarily video watching.
Also under 10k is a psychological number which I feel good about. So nexus 7 was next obvious choice.
Using an iOS device is an absolute pleasure (for me). :)

Same thing happened when i was buying the new tablet.
I wanted to buy Ipad Mini, but then the cost of iPad Mini Retina Display 32GB cellular was way too high.
I felt guilty for buying the N7 itself. :P
I really couldnt justify buying the iPad.
