Need to buy cable for 2.1A rated charger

The cable supplied with my Nexus 7 is not working properly. The connector cover has come off. It charges fine but I am not too comfortable with the exposed contacts of a cable which is carrying 2.1 Amp of electricity.

I have tried several cheap cables. All charge very slowly.

Found an article on Lifehacker(http://lifehacker.com/cables-can-significantly-impact-the-charging-speed-of-y-1532784722) which pointed us to these 24/28 AWG cables manufactured by Monoprice.

On Ebay, these cables are being sold for Rs.599/piece even when these cost 1.02$ on the Monoprice website.

A 1m cable is enough for me.

Does anyone has any llinks for similar cables made by the Chinese or is anyone interested in importing these from US?
 
Just get a genuine BB cable or see the sides of any USB cable - if it says 24/28 AWG, thats good enough. I think the Pantech Burst cables are also similar.

Where can I get an original BB cable?
Most shops sell the charger + cable combo. Since I already have the charger, I wanted to avoid buying it unnecessarily.
 
it will support whatever the wall charger does , these are of the highest quality , i use em on all sorts of android devices , never tried on any BB ever.

Can you tell me the current rating(amp) of the charger(s) that you used with this?

28AWG is not supposed to carry 2.1A (I think)
24AWG is for current capacity more than 1A.

None of my 28AWG cables carry current properly. Charges very slowly.

I can tell you the following from common sense:
Charger spec of 2.1A does not mean your device will draw the total rated power - it will be lesser than that.
A good quality 28 AWG wire, at the most, might warm up slightly ( un-noticeable ), but shouldn't affect charging time significantly.

I am unable to find the link where I read that 28AWG is good for only 1 A. Let me search a bit more.

My Moto G can take 1.5A and Nexus 7 takes 2.1 A. These the 2 gadgets for which I need the cable. So my requirement is something better than the 28AWG.
My cables do not get heated up that much. It is just that they charge very very slowly. So I assume that very small amount of current is actually passing through it.

Your XDA article also mentioned a 28/24AWG cable.
Such a notation means the data pins are 28AWG while the power carrying wire is 24AWG.
 
Let me explain my post. I said what made sense and immediately contradicted it, as common sense does not apply to your device. It is designed to draw less power from computer USB port and more power from its proprietory adapter.

What I said applies only to dumb devices ( like a ADSL2 router ). Your smart device draws current at its whim.

Your XDA article also mentioned a 28/24AWG cable.

The cables used for testing were 6 feet in length that requires thicker gauge to beat resistance. Yours is most probably a common cable.
From that topic:
OEM = 3 feet, unknown AWG (not imprinted on the cable), impedance of power/ground wires = 0.2 ohms, length of MicroUSB male end = 6 mm, resistance / continuity check reveals nothing special. It is a standard MicroUSB cable.

Most of the Micro USB cables found in our market wouldn't even be 28 AWG, since they are meant to handle only 500mA.

* Idea * Maybe you could use a widget like CurrentWidget and tell us the current drawn with different cables, especially from a shorter - 1 feet cable.

PS: On vacation, will be back on Sunday eve.
 
buy the cable i recommended , doesnt cost much and see how well it performs :) should reach u in 3-4 days tops probably faster than buying something locally.

AFAIK, having 28AWG should not make a difference. I have not had the time to read the entire thread, but the amount of current a 28AWG can carry is more than 2A.

After coming to India, how is the package delivered? Via SpeedPost? If delivered via SpeedPost, does it come as a registered package(i.e I need to sign it before they hand over the package to me)?

While ordering it, I mistakenly put my office address as delivery address. Bought it on 21st July. Have not got any call from the office mail room yet. Should I give the mail room a visit?
They do not provide any tracking id and hence am unable to know where it is.
