So, recently i received my brand new m50 from flipkart. I need an amp to drive them. Please suggest me a good amp. My sources will be sansa clip+ and lg g2.

I am confused between e6 and e11 of fiio. Will there be any difference if i spend more and get e11? Or e6 will be sufficient for m50?

Also i will be grateful if u can provide me any online buying links or contacts. Its there on mp4nation but i doubt intl. Shipping. :-/

Hello Arshit,

I happen to use the FiiO E11 with my M50 with while interchanging the source between a Sansa Clip Zip (Rockboxed) and a LG L9 phone. I think what the FiiO E11 does is adds a considerable amount of loudness and also fullness to the overall vocals of songs. This is just my personal opinion though. I happen to love the M50's and have been pretty darn satisfied with what the E11 adds to it.

However, should you not get a portable amp your Clip+ will drive the M50 just fine as well.

M50s impedance is only 38 Ohms and doesn't need any amp at all. Clip+ & G2 can drive them fine without any problem.

Just curious, being a noob here, can u explain this impedance thing? And a headphone should be of how much imp atleast to require an amp.

TO put things simple, there are LOW & HIGH impedance headphones.

Low impedance headphones can be used with portable players (16-150 Ohms) with few exceptions.
High Impedance headphones might require an AMP to get the best out of it (250-600 Ohms)

It also depends on the headphone sensitivity which basically tells how loud they can get with the given power at the headphone impedance - measured in dB/mW.

M50 is a decent headphone which can be driven easily by any source. I used my M50 with Fiio E07k which is a DAC/AMP(portable) and it paired very well.

Warning: This hobby is not wallet friendly :)

Do these amps increases the SQ, or they just amplify the mids higs or lows. Because few years back i had a fiio e3 and it seem like it just increases the volume output. Do these portable amps actually improves the SQ or they just kinda increase the volume?

P.S. Yep it is not wallet friendly, but its something i have real interest. :-)

I tried my M50 with Fiio E07k and Fiio E07k/09k as well. Fiio e09k AMP ain't suited for low impedance headphones but still gave some punch in the Bass section and overall my M50 sounded fuller.(placebo?? :headphone:)

For M50, you can get Fiio e07k or e17 (portable DAC/AMP). Fiio E17 uses the same wolfson DAC as E07k but slightly better amp and Optical support.

Do not think of standalone AMP unless you are going for a high impedance headphones. I've Beyer dt880 600ohms paired with Fiio e07k/09k, - works great as expected.

I too am using the M50 + E07k combo. Has served me quite well, especially the eq, which is epic

A relative of mine is coming from usa. So like the usual indian, i am asking him to get some stuff from there. :D
Should i get the e07k? If its gonna make a difference i wont mind spending the amount.
Secondly, i need one more sansa for my bro. So, clip+ vs clip zip. I am confused between these two. I dont want interface etc i just want the best SQ. Which one should i order?[DOUBLEPOST=1411112285][/DOUBLEPOST]Help :-/

The sound quality increase will not be easily heard; the bass is slightly fuller and gives the overall sound a slightly warm presentation but thats it. The reason i like it is due to its equalizer, which is a pretty amazing bass boost with multiple levels.
Also, my laptop's sound had way too much noise (interference, as its quite old), which the e07k doesn't so this was a major factor in me buying the DAC

Buddy, in your opinion, is it worth amping with sansa as source? Is it really worth spending 5k to pair it with amp like e07k? I am really confused :-|

m50 doesn't necessarily need an amp to shine , you will find some improvements using an amp .
Given u want portable solution and u have sansa already ,I'd suggest save for later HP upgrade.

This. It's not worth spending an AMP for M50.

I use my PC for listening and my On-board audio is crap. So i bought Fiio e07k and it served me very well. I also have sansa clip zip which i prefer to use with my C12.
