Hi all,
Need to upgrade old PC.
Budget neat Rs.25K total.
Some doubts in my mind:
1. Should I wait for Skylake ?
2. Should I wait for new AMD 3XX Series GPUs ? No good GPU currently available in my budget with 4GB VRAM.
3. I will get 1TB HDD & a good case later.Currently have little rusted local brand cheap cabinet which working OK with two 120mm coling fans.
4. Any other cabinet suggestions @3K-4K?

I can wait a little if there is any possibility of major changes of PC Hardware in next 6 months cos my budget is kinda low...



 
Since your main usage is gaming - ~70%, a good GFX card is must; accommodating one in given budget is uphill task. I would say if you can wait for 6 months and can push budget to 40k for proccy + Mobo + RAM + GPU, it will be much better.

If I wait 6 month then there will be any price drop for hardware or major change in technology ?
Or I have to buy the same hardware which r available at present.
For example:
Intel i3 4160/i5 4460
Compatible Mobo
4/8GB DDR3 RAM
4GB Video Card(GTX960 or similar)

I can stretch my budget to 30K in next month.
 
Well 6 months is long span in tech. There might be possibilities for better items at same price point.

Approx prices at present are as follows;
i3-41x0 - ~8,000
i5-4440 - ~13,000
Asus B85M-G - ~6,000
8GB DDR3 RAM - ~4500
Asus STrix GTX960 2GB GDDR5 - ~17,000

i3 Rig total - ~35,500
i5 Rig total - ~40,500

Also note that VS series PSU from corsair is average.
 
Yea,6 months is long span in tech but in past 6 month that did not happen.
Very minor changes happent.
Price did not fall specially for CPU.
AMD failed to give any competion to Intel and Nvidia and that's why no price war now.

Sorry,I typed wrong.
I have VS450 not the VS550.
Is it not enought for 6pin power ?
One more thing when even I will buy any GPU it must have least 4GB VRAM.
So,after summingup every thing that I have no choise but have to wait. :(
 
That i3 is a dualcore. Whatever you do get a quadcore processor. you'll be happy with it in the long run. And honestly i dont get the hype over these 4gb videocards. You aren't going to go multi-monitor are you?

But,I see these days huge VRAM required to handle high res texture thought I will be game at 1080P max.
FX-6300 is 6 cores but no difference compare to i3.
So,only real quad core start from i5 which starts from 13k.
Huge price difference compare to dual core.
 
More vram does not give you more performance.
the vram requirement is dependent on your resolution and at 1080p you wont ever cross the 2gb mark.
also a 4gb gtx 960 is a waste as it isn't capable of using all that memory.

the fx 6300 is capable of handling 6 threads but its essentially 3 bulldozer modules.
an i3 is perfectly fine for gaming so don't worry if quad cores are out of your budget.

its like this, the games of a few years ago and the games being released nowadays are different and consume more processing resources. Old games run fine with a fast dualcore but not anymore especially in higher settings. Recent games like DA:I, GTA5 etc benefit greatly from more cores. For eg. Try running Dragon Age: Inquisition on a dualcore at higher settings. The game can lag/stutter/freeze. Look up at reviews. So i feel that a basic i5 would be better in the long run. If i were you and dont have the budget i would go for the FX6300. Just warning you of the compromises of getting a dualcore processor for gaming nowadays.[DOUBLEPOST=1433511892][/DOUBLEPOST]and by reviews i meant detailed comprehensive reviews. Even some reputed sites dont do much in their tests.
 
Sorry man, i cannot give any specific answer to that. You'll have to go through as many reviews/sites as you can and then look at the gaming benchmarks. Some sites just do some common old games benching without really touching the core issues. Reputed forum members usually do it. Also reddit is another source for reliable feedbacks and reviews imo. Also ever since anandtech was bought and a new editor in place they seem to have been doing a lot of advertorials aka paid articles and the likes. Also look into legitreviews.

I read few forums.
And there users says we need more cores cos game dev become so lazy that they don't spend their time to utilize new games for dual core cpus.
Dev just make codes/programmed for few selected high end cpus.
But,I don't exactly what's the real story.

What's the difference between B85M & H81M ?

  • CPU - Intel Core i3 4150 -7500,
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte H81M-D3H -3500,
  • RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB 1600Mhz -2500,
  • GPU - AMD R9 270 - 12,000
  • TOTAL -25,500.
 
I will not OC.
I don't have any USB 3.0 device yet.
Will not use more than 4 SATA components.
Currently have 500GB Seagate HDD and will add WB 1TB Blue HDD in future.
Will use max 2x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM Dual Channel.
Will be using a single GPU max GTX960.
H81M also support Intel i5 4440

So,do I really need B85M ?
