YOU Broadband - Chennai - Beware

Okay my connection has been down since Sunday morning and I'm not getting a proper response from the customer care. Same crap every single time I call - 4 to 12 working hours saar... but nothing happens.

Not sure what to do.

Dude, register a complaint through the online portal after logging into your account, if you havent already done that.[DOUBLEPOST=1434436996][/DOUBLEPOST]
Still, anything is better than YOU. Horrendous s#it. They have no understanding of what any service requires.

I think its quite area centric, it has been really decent in the areas I reside, so please dont generalize.

Hah, okay boss!

That being said, their CC needs a lot more improvement, if you didn't know the first time around I signed up for a connection, the said there was feasibility, I signed up, it took them 2-3 months to return my money, stating no service, a few months later we had feasibility.

No I haven't made a complaint online, my connectivity has been really limited since I disconnected my Airtel line. I'll do it now and hope for the best. Have you had a positive experience with this?

To be fair, when the connection works, it's incredibly good. I get a solid 100 mbps all the time with excellent pings to servers. However, I've noticed a slow but steady degradation in stability since I got the connection 2 months ago. The first month was near flawless. Then I started having anywhere between 10 minutes to 1 hour of downtime every day, usually around 8 to 10 AM. Last Friday, I had a full day's downtime due to a "fiber cut" which they informed me via SMS. The connection was restored and worked fine until Sunday morning when it just went poof while I was using it. I haven't heard anything substantial since then except excuses and false promises from the customer care and "nodal officers" who seem absolutely clueless.

edit: I just made a complaint online and it gave me a generic response with yet another complaint number. Not sure what to make of this.[DOUBLEPOST=1434461159][/DOUBLEPOST]

My only options here are You, NetXpress (which is probably even worse from what I've heard) and Airtel which is rock solid but slow and expensive.

After 5 days of constant screaming every hour, they finally came over and replaced the cables last evening to restore connectivity. The customer care is absolutely useless. You need to get hold of the field technicians and yell at them. Being polite won't work since they seem to have a hundred cases like this up at once, and whoever makes the most noise seems to get their issue resolved first.

The guy who came to my house claimed he didn't even know about the complaint until Wednesday evening when I made it on Sunday at 8 AM.

There's a number on the site for Chennai Appellate Authority. Call that. Some area in-charge dude will probably pick up. Follow up with him constantly.

I have zero issues with performance, always getting a full 100/100. Their service is the worst I've ever encountered though.

Well, I have called the customer care 2 times in 2 days. The issue is that their field technicians are not answering my calls now, looks like I will have to follow up with the appellate authority.

Do you get full 100mbps upload speed too?

Haven't really measured my uploads but it shows 100 in speed tests and the other day, I uploaded a 3 gig file to Google Drive which took about 5 minutes.

2 times in 2 days won't cut it. I was literally spamming the field technicians and the so called "appellate authority" with calls every hour. I often work from home, so between my brother and me, we made sure to follow up constantly. It'll probably be a nightmare for anyone working in an office until 6 PM.

If you made your first call 2 days ago, I'm almost certain the field technicians aren't even aware of the problem yet. The customer care is only there to stall people with their canned "4-12 working hours" response.

Well, I was already following up with them before the actual call to the customer care, since then they simply stopped responding (field technicians). The appellate office, listed on their website, no one seems to be responding on that number either.

Dude for the days you were without the internet, you can claim service days, which will be added to your cycle, do claim your service credit.

^ YouBroadband 100 Mbps plan is a f**king joke.
The 100 Mbps is only INSIDE India - stuff that is cached in India, like youtube torrents etc. Anything outside India and you are stuck between 2-20 Mbps depending time of the day and location of the source. Everyday around 9PM speed drops to around 2Mbps. Their support staff close tickets without even asking.

I just wish I had ACT or some other decent provider in my area. Hoping thing will chnage with Jio.

Bro, I think even Act faces similar bandwidth loss while testing on us and eu servers. You can confirm from the Act thread.

^ I did run the tests on leaseweb - I get speeds between 256 KB/s to 1400KB/s on average and 2-2.3 MB/s (Bytes not bits) once in a while.
Pathetic. Is this outright cheating ? How can they advertise a 100 Mbps plan and give around 10Mb/s bandwidth ?

Not the case for me. My big downloads are mainly games on Steam and Battle.net. I get 10 to 11 mb/s from Bnet servers which I believe are located in the US. Downloaded 35GB in an hour. On Steam I'm currently getting around 4 MB/s when I manually change the server to the US or Sweden but I think the Steam servers are getting hammered right now due to a massive Dota 2 update. I'll try again later. I remember seeing 11 MB/s in the past.

4 MB/s which is 32 mbit is on the lower end for me. I've never seen it drop as low as you are claiming.

Yeah, guess what? Running after them again now for this crap.

Did you call the appellate office landline or a mobile number? I'm PMing you one, try that.[DOUBLEPOST=1434885478][/DOUBLEPOST]Down again for the past one hour.

Could you please post a transfer speed screenshot of leasweb from US East & West coast? It would help me take up the matter with YouBB Customer Care.
