Will wait for others to launch the so called 4G. Don't want to be guinea pig for this Failtel.

Btw that Smartbyte plan, how does 600 INR for 2GB translate into 200/GB ?? It should be either 400 INR.

Speed after quota makes EDGE look far far better. 128 kbps...Seriously Failtel ??

So...

I had subscribed for Airtel's 4G in Pune way back when - during the earlier posts in this thread :) Worked great in my office and in another area but there was no signal at my home, so I cancelled it (kept the dongle).

Now after a gap of nearly 3 years I was visiting an Airtel store to change my regular mobile SIM from normal to nano and saw a flier about Airtel 4G plans and the guy offered to send a technician to my home for a demo/signal test - I was skeptical.

The guy came over the weekend and lo and behold there was decent signal level (3 out of 5 bars) and getting around 20 mbps speedtest result to both local and international servers, so I immediately signed up again for a new SIM and Rs. 750/- 5GB plan :D

Using the same ZTE MF880T dongle I had all those years back, along with an old Dovado TINY router which does automatic switchover between my BSNL connection and the 4G (if BSNL disconnects) so hopefully I'll have 24x7 internet instead of the hassle of BSNL's frequent disconnections!

Guy came for demo on Saturday and I signed up, and next day on Sunday it got activated! I downloaded Fedora 22 (1.3 GB) and got around 20 mbps speed from a Hong Kong mirror - finished in around 10 minutes :D

All plans offers unlimited usage at 128kbps post-free usage on high speed.
This is an exageration.
Airtel has 2G/Edge presence (no 3G license) in Maharashtra, expecting 128 kbps from this network is actually very optimistic.
In reality I would say 56-64 kbps.

@ssslayer I recently enable 3G on my Airtel mobile SIM here in Pune and it works pretty well - at least at my home and office.
Airtel uses Vodafone or Idea's network to provide 3G.
Therefore, when you take 4G service (for which Airtel has a license), and finish the data limit, you will plunge suddenly to the 2G network.

You are using 3G, therefore you will not face such issues.
