Hello Fellas,
Has anyone purchased any modded ps3 from ModsandBreaks, pune? I feel their prices are kinda high.

Also, please help me to choose between PS3 500GB CFW 4.3 and PS3 12 GB OFW 4.55 with Cobra ODE.

I prefer to go with CFW version but afraid of getting banned on PSN. PSNinja/PSNPatch users can you tell me how good are they by keeping you away from getting banned.

@Ethan_Hunt many thanks for the first port, being a noob and hardly understood about jailbreaking PS3 since I bought from last year from olx, I went ahead and got it modded.
The guy had put 8 games but I wanted to add games myself, followed the first post, transferred GT6 and COD MW without any problems.

Oh cheers! It's been ages since I've updated that post. The last update I did on my system was in November 2014 to get Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen online. It still works like a champ.

Using multiMAN pretty much eases out all your transfer needs and updating the firmware for this console is a piece of cake. Enjoy!

For multiMAN sure. Don't risk it with custom firmware update. Why not just do it the old fashioned "plug-in-the-thumb-drive" update? It's way faster and much more simpler.

Hiya folks. I think I've been out of the CFW side for way too long, but just stumbled across a few YouTube videos today which shows CFW installation now being possible on OFW 4.70 firmwares (both for Slim and Super Slim models).

Just curious if anyone has tested this out or wants to be a test dummy?

Dont even try. All fake videos.

Yeah thought so. But with all those YouTube comments of it working kinda threw me off.
YouTube is the video analogue of Whatsapp. Lol! On a more serious note, I am certain that there won't be another jailbreak for the PS3 ever. Eagerly waiting for a PS4 jailbreak.

Just to get a context on this, I think people should know that many cities have a huge market of used PS3 games which even provides PS3 games on rent. What that means is that you don't even have to Jailbreak the PS3. You may buy the used game for Rs 600 or rent it for a month at Rs 300, at least here in Chandigarh. My friend bought a used PS3 for Rs 10, 000, and it came with 3 games. So, Jailbreaking is not the only option.

^I bought the PS3 late last year. Came with 3 games. Got and played 5-6 games from my friends/cousins. Bought some used titles from OLX costing between 400-1000 bucks depending upon the game and have been satisfied.

Guys, i need help in buying used ps3 and game. What all things i need to check to ensure its working fine and wont give problem later on? I intend to play mostly racing/ simulation games and might buy original one (used) as well. But it would be better if console can be jailbroken if required. So in that regard what i need to check like model number etc? I am finding most of the used consoles for sale are super slim type. Can they be jailbroken by downgrading FW with some mod etc?

And does it make any difference by using used game discs?
@Ethan_Hunt
Thanks in advance.

That's odd, the tag didn't seem to register in my alerts.

If you're going for racing and simulation style games, why not go for the Xbox 360? I'm not familiar with a lot of racing titles, but I think both have their own exclusive titles; Forza & Gran Turismo. The reason behind my suggestion is you can easily find a 360 which can be RGH'd, whereas a CFW based PS3 is very hard to come by these days.

Going for the super slim PS3 models would mean using the ODE (Optical drive emulator) method, which again, isn't really as efficient as a custom firmware. Downgrade won't be possible with the Super slims. If you can find a custom firmware based Slim PS3; it's a jackpot. Then again, it depends on how old it is and the condition of the console. Slims were extremely sturdy. Mine is now closing in on 6 years. DO NOT got for the fat models.

It's quite a hassle on the PS3 modding side, while 360 is pretty straight forward and one time thing. You need to weigh out your options and pick one.

I agree with #Ethan_Hunt.

Never go for Fat models. PS3 Slim model with custom firmware or model 2508b if available is jackpot. As suggested you can go for Xbox 360 as it can be easily jailbreaked.
Super Slim models are complete waste as jailbreaking them does not make sense. It uses ODE which is not compatible with all games and will not allow you to update your games.

So go for Ps3 Slim with custom firmware/2508b or Xbox 360.

Ok tks for replies. And its good to know fat model is to be avoided.

I am actually mad after gran turismo and dream of gt academy. That is the sole reason for getting console in the first place. As a long term benefit wanted to have jailbroken ps3. So didnt even think of xbox.

Was reading online about super slim jailbreaking and only option seems to be cobra ode. Isnt it good enough? Looks like it is the most preferred option after cfws.

On the sidelines what all things i need to check while buying used ps3? And used game disc?

And what would be price range for jailbroken slim ps3?
