YOU Broadband - Chennai - Beware

It has been pretty good, although I exhaust the limit within 14-15 days. I had no downtimes during April and May. But this month, I have had three downtimes. One for a few hours, and the next time, I didn't have it for two whole days (the ACT guy told their servers were down). Other than that, very good!

Lucky you! I did call ACT over the weekend, they said if they have feasibility they would respond, looks like it is a no for now.

Edit - The connection was fixed last night after 10 days, got a message this morning, 'Sorry for the inconvenience we have running maintenance, services in your area may be disrupted and will be restored in an hour" Got a follow up "We are facing technical issue in our node, once it got cleared. We will update you back." This company is a joke.

But, but, there isnt anything better, keep calling em man, escalate it at the call center, threaten to take them to the consume courts.

Believe me, between my brother and I we've spent the past two days calling them every hour on the dot. The situation is so bad that I have to inform their employees about things that should be internal communication.

I'm seriously considering going back to Airtel even though I'll have to pay a bomb for shit speeds. One thing about their service, their stability and customer care is the best I've seen. Used them for close to ten years with hardly any downtime related issues unless there's something like a major storm happening. Their CC is also retarded, but at the very least, they respond on time.

Slow internet is better than no internet.

True on both counts about You and Airtel. You is fantastic when it works, now after them for service credit. Like you I have been using Airtel for close to 15 years and their service and reliability is unmatched, I am on the 799 minimum rental plan (2Mbps, 2GB FUP) just to maintain connectivity incase You goes down. Since you use need internet for work you should consider an alternative and wait for other service providers to expand to your area.

Oodoo doesnt do your area? They have some killer unlimited plans.

That's true. I'm actually waiting for Oodoo to come to my area. Actually I'm thinking of changing to reliance thunder 1099 plan ... I don't mind about the slow Internet as long as it's unlimited :)

No Oodoo.

You isn't even giving back the credit for the days that were lost. There's no point in them even fixing my connection now because it expires today and I'll be stuck again without credit.

edit: It's FINALLY back up. I went and stood with them when they were doing work near my house, even lending them my flashlight to make sure they finished the job.

Now my torrent speeds are slow. Not getting more than 6 mb/s

Cheers mate, did you get the service credit? I was eligible to get 7-8 days, got 4. What's your scene?

You broadband Chennai users, have pings to Valve SG servers gone up? All the servers that I used to get the ~70ms ping have now shot upto ~200.. Anyone else facing similar issue?

YOU is not working in my area from 9th Nov and I got a message that it would be rectified on 11th Nov around 12.30 p.m. only. One of the local service guy told me that heavy rains in Chennai has forced them to stop the service due to water flooding and network device not working. I can understand if the service is disrupted for couple of hours but if it is disrupted for days together and they are not able to rectify they have a serious problem with their infrastructure. Trying to move to ACT now. Hope they are atleast better than YOU.

Posted about what? I'm not planning on raising a ticket until the next cycle because I've actually crossed my FUP right now and I'm still getting max speeds [emoji14] Don't want them to make any changes right now. I'll know on the 15th.
Well, if the issue gets sorted out, if it's working fine for others, then it's obviously specific to your line.

Same boat mate, just keep reviewing their regret messages, will probably not renew after this month.

Edit - I don't think Act users are any better off, a friend of mine residing I'm be sant Nagar and adyar are having non working act connections from a couple days. The torrential rains haven't spared any is, only airtel adsl continues to soldier on.

Just said goodbye to YOU broadband. I could see an increase in their downtime and the speeds began to fluctuate often. ACT came to my area recently and installed it a month back but connection was activated a couple of weeks back (due to Chennai floods, not to blame them). Went for a 40mbps with 50 GB FUP and their quality of connection is far superior than YOU. Also surprising fact is that ACT has now doubled the data from 50GB to 100GB for the same price of Rs.999/month. One problem I faced with both ACT and YOU were, their customer service were pathetic and the worst in this case was ACT, where you can never reach a customer support person. Need to SMS and wait for the service person to contact you if there was any problem with the connection. As of now both upload and download has the same speed in ACT and hope it stays as such.

Couple of weeks back got a call from YOU broadband that they have coverage in my area (T.Nagar) and asked me if I am interested for a connection. I ignored first but after several calls from the sales guy went ahead and got trapped. They claimed a 33mbps line Rs.1750 for two months with 200 GB limit. Now after taking a cheque and debiting the money from my account they came back and said that the connection in the area is not possible now as they could not get the approval certificate for cabling from Chennai corporation for this area. I asked them to return the money and they are not doing it by simply stating that they do not have anything to do with accounts. Their call center is pathetic and they do not even give you a complaint number and just washed their hands off the issue. I even updated in their Facebook page with a complaint but nothing seems to be working.

Any suggestions to get the money back?
Oh well I did same .the guy name dharma he collected cash and promise to get connection by today evening or else he will refund the amount

Which Area? They are usually slow but they would give the connection or would refund the amount after a month if there is no feasibility.

Why would you trust anyone with your money
I would not even give a penny unless he installs and i find the speed and latency satisfying after installation
Around 9 years ago i did not pay sify his installation and 1 month bill because it was getting disconnected so many times and their guys were so slow in fixing it. They even blacklisted my name in their database when i asked about their plans few years later but who cares
Once i even installed hathway and during speedtest in front of the guy i saw that speed was not promised and he said that it will be fixed but i told him to take his cables back im not taking this imbeclie service
moral of the story< your money is more valuable than anyone else's so don't just give it in advance
