Latest PC DRM tech too hard to crack, “no more cracked games in two years,” says cracking group

. If you have been to such slums, you might have also seen that most of the houses have TVs, DTH connections, refrigerators etc all working on 'kundi' connections.
This exactly is the definition of empowerment.
My brother is a game programmer. I have seen him work so hard, spending hours on his computer trying to get that kick just right, forgetting about eating or sleeping till his work gets done to his satisfaction. How can you even approve of stealing a fruit of such hard work,
A movie director puts in the same amount of efforts, if not more. So why being moral when it comes down to certain stuff only? I am pretty sure @lord NeNemesis jacks off every damn TV show and movie off torrents. Doesn't that make him a pirate? First catch every movie in theaters and then we'll talk of cyber thefts and the likes.
However, the govt should ensure that no one else who earns more than 10L, irrespective of whether they declare it correctly or not, shouldn't receive the subsidy. It is a matter of principle and fairness. If the govt can't ensure that then it should think of another way to implement that policy which is fair to all.

The government is exploring new ways of plugging this gap like linking pan to subsidies, keeping a track of your movable and immovable assets like houses, cars white goods etc. So you need to hold your horses!

The point is that selling cheap doesn't matter much in India. It was already tried. Music CD's for Rs 25, Movies for Rs 50 and games starting at Rs 100.
None of that reduces piracy in India. People here would prefer to steal and get something for free than get it cheap. And its not just about software as I said. Even with heavy subsidies, power theft is pretty common in a lot of villages and other rural areas. Even worse is that they somehow feel entitled to get it for free at somebody else's expense.

Several years back, a media company that publishes a major English news paper in India which happens to earns in crores was caught running their entire workflow in a pirated version of our software when I was at my previous company. They did it simply because they thought they could get away with it. My former company literally stopped investing for the Indian market simply because they would not even get the R&D costs back in return. A lot of Indian companies still use pirated versions of that software for their workflows.

Only thing that can have any influence in these matters is legal measures that are properly implemented. Then you either buy and use or not use at all.

Which just shows my point.

Same can be said about everything including life. Why bother living when ultimately you are going to die anyways. Why do you have a computer or a phone or a TV when its all meaningless in the end. Sell them off and find some meaningful purpose for it.

Also, get it through your thick head that every thing in the world is not done exclusively for you or for the sake of a under-developed nation which seems to be continuously doing its best to regress back even more. India barely counts as any sort of market for games. So neither the games or DRM is made for Indian market. A lot of companies don't even bother releasing their products in India for the same reason.

A certain pharma company pulled out a patented cancer medicine from the Indian market. Reason being that the Indian authorities which were supposed to protect their IPR were leaking their formula to local manufacturers in the name of promoting cheaper medicines. The same govt and people wouldn't flinch at holding this pharma company liable if any of those duplicate/fake medicines were to cause side effects. At some convention, when asked for comments about their move, their top guy said that the medicine is not for markets that cannot afford it. Much hue and cry was raised over it in India, but what he said is definitely correct. They are spending billions of dollars on R&D for medicines for giving them away on charity. Just because people in backward country cannot afford them does not mean that they are entitled to get for free or cheap.

Charity or special treatment is just a favor, not an entitlement as you seem to think it is.

Yeah, lets first see the 35~40% of salaries that people like me give to the govt as direct and indirect taxes being put to good use first.

Also stop with the bogus nationalistic and patriotic crap you try to spew every where. It is disgusting. Patriotism is a sentiment that is not much different and no less nonsensical than religious fanaticism. All that's needed for a country to operate and progress is people who fulfill their duties and responsibilities.
Wow!!!Derp got it on two full barrels.Overdue for a long time I would say.:p

@derp - You really are making no sense. Since you keep making the excuse of India being a country with people too poor to buy games then they should treat gaming as a luxurious hobby and avoid it altogether and work for their own betterment. In short what I mean is Public transport services like buses, trains etc are means of traveling and so is sitting in a Mercedes but the poor don't steal a Mercedes to travel as it is punishable by law. Pirating games, movies etc is not legal either and is punishable but since no one atm is bothering to go after people downloading stuff illegally in India doesn't make it right.

Also you make it sound like Pirating is a birthright :joycat:

This exactly is the definition of empowerment.

I don't understand. How is drinking alcohol every night and still stealing electricity empowerment.

Do you see either him or me trying to do moral policing on this forum?
Since you are the one who is asking everyone to be more morally responsible, how can you approve of theft. Why are you being moral when it comes to certain stuff only?

Also, don't go around judging people and pointing fingers if you don't know someone. Do you live with LN that you know he watches pirated movies and shows. What if he doesn't? Will that suddenly make all that he said true.

You are failing to realize that you are trying to justify theft and asking people to be morally responsible at the same time. Just wow.

P.S. - I still download and watch movies on TV Series. You don't see me going around trying to make people do more good over here, do you.

The government is exploring new ways of plugging this gap like linking pan to subsidies, keeping a track of your movable and immovable assets like houses, cars white goods etc. So you need to hold your horses!

Plug the gap and then implement the new policy. Ask the govt to hold their horses.

^^"obviously"? Actually FYI there are some popular games which you can play online on private servers on pirated copies CS and WoW just to name two.
Then just stick to that. And does that mean you need to pirate and play since you have an option to? This is why there are rapists and criminals in India. They do things just because they can.

And if you were not aware the conversion rate used to be 40-45INR for a US$1. If $66 now is not bad what is? I hope you realize that the final rates for these products come after currency conversion. If you are happy with low INR value and its effects then that is not my problem. Just because you can afford something and sound so righteous doesn't mean everyone else do. And you either don't even know or are simply ignorant as to why people resort to that means. If I was as rich as some of you guys hell even i wouldn't mind spending thousands on these.
You dear sir, get your facts right. Do you even know that the pricing in India is not based on the conversions from the international shelves? In such case every game you should be buying for the equivalent INR of 60$/pounds. And by your own words ppl resort to stealing and piracy since they cant afford the games? So how different are you from a criminal stealing physical material? They are in need too which they cant afford.

And i never said anything about "stealing what i cannot afford and want to have", don't try to twist my words.
Twist your words? Do you even realize that piracy is a crime? Or you have the same chaltha hai koi kuch nahi karega attitude of the criminals out there?

And also another reason why some people dont want to pay up for legit copies is the scumbaggery of the corporate companies behind them, with their stupid policies and their ridiculous pricing for crappy games. Yet another reason is related to the lack of proper internet connection or internet requirement, huge game files etc but since you seem to have been born with a silver spoon you probably won't even understand that else you wouldn't have said what you said. You may not agree with this logic but thats how it is. There is also another group of gamers who have legit copies and at the same time pirate them to justify it. One of the few things which can help the situation is appropriate or affordable pricing justifying the products but some publishers just wont do it. And yeah i stand by my opinions on the pricing according to the currency value thing, like Steam's INR.
Its not me who has to agree but the laws of the land about the bullshit you are throwing at us here.
FYI I havent seen a silver spoon yet in my life. Do send some pictures if you have one at home. But I am taught not to steal. If me being legit is your problem, I am sorry I cant be you.
BTW what "scumbaggery"? Pricing their product as you like or asking criminals like you to stop your activities?
If they are worried about unauthorized sales they can come up with some proper security measures.
Reread the thread from the start. I guess you got carried away by your proud piracy confession that you dint realise this thread was about the measures taken to curb "assholistic piracy my job" attitude or the leachers and the seeders.

TLDR: Buy the original copies if you want/can and let others do their stuff. Its not like you can stop them anyway. :p
If you cant kill, you dont bother. Let me kill coz i can and i give a shit about law of the land. this is as good as what you said.

lolwhat? Let me ask you sire, do you watch every damn movie at theatres? also, do you get original dvds of all the TV shows?

And how can you compare someone who consumes pirated media with a rapist?

Please go through my posts. I do not encourage piracy. However, not all of us can afford games worth 3K. Now do not give me that elitist drivel that you should not go for it if you cant afford it. Also, I ,myself dont play/download pirated games anymore. Jailbreak/homebrew doesnt mean that ill start downloading games. See the definition of homebrew!

Re read my statements completely saar. You will hopefully understand how the comparison was made. And if you still dont understand, dont try any harder, you will never be able to make it.
