We're Doomed

What I simply wanted to say that if the min. system requirements are as huge as an i7 or something then how are fellow budget gamers gonna manage the load or upgrading?
So you simply call names of people who could manage to upgrade their rigs to suite the needs?
I am married and got a kid. I upgrade my gadgets and rigs every 2nd iteration. Got both the current gen consoles and have a decent R290 based rig for gaming. You calling my life for doing so as nothing offends me. You get it?

PS:: That's my feeling and eveyone has theirs that you might have offended. I dint take it personally but your words does offend me in general.

I get that you are pissed man. However, like I have said, Indian gamers' opinion and budgets don't really matter to the people developing these games, because the crowd paying for games is miniscule.
In first world countries, dishing out $300-500 for an upgrade isn't much of a headache. For many developers these days, there is a race for putting out the best textures and graphics. I am pretty sure the game will run on budget PCs as well, just not fully maxed out.
Another thing you should note, is that in first world countries majority budget gamers stick to consoles and most if not all PC gamers are enthusiasts who don't mind splurging on upgrades every few years. Most of them have multi-GPU setups just for the heck of it.

Although I agree with what you said, I firmly believe that most developers these days eye the revenue pie a lot more than before. If you look at all the legacy titles, they came with demo versions to help the gamers make the final decision i.e. if they want to go ahead with the purchase. Secondly, the original doom was free when it first released and after a while, iD started charging that too a minimal amount.

Although the hardware is not a problem here, unnecessary 55 gigs of download even after buying the game is. Also the inclusion of a season pass FFS. I think the notion of PC gaming has been corrupted and has been consolified. It has definitely digressed from the vision of the original legacy game developers. There was a concept of community before which is missing now. And in a community, not everyone has a SLI based system. It is the intent and passion that matters and not if you have an uber powerful gaming PC to enjoy some game![DOUBLEPOST=1462794499][/DOUBLEPOST]

Maybe thats the reason for your frequent upgrades!:p

One can't have it both ways. We hate copy paste stuff like COD but when a game pushes the technology boundaries we cry that our budget rigs can't run it. Well tough shit. I played Witcher 3 and Rise of Tomb Raider on high-medium and they were still amazingly fun. The biggest advantage of a PC gamer is the ability to do staggered upgrades. Last year I retired my i5-750 and got a Skylake. This year I will try to upgrade to a GTX 1070. Sell old parts to get back some money. Get a good cabinet, power supply and monitor which will last several upgrade cycles.

PC gaming is not that expensive if one plans it out.

unnecessary 55 gigs of download

HD textures are getting bigger and bigger. Resolutions are increasing. When I started gaming 600x480 was common. Now we see 1440p everywhere. Games will get bigger and bigger. The real pain is our ISP data limits. It's 2016, there really is no place for 25 Gb data caps. Buy a disc version if you can't download so much. However I dont think Bethesda has distributors in India anymore.

I meant even if you have a disc version, you'll have to download that update of 55 gigs!!

A 55 GB patch? Where did you get that from? Steam page shows 55GB of storage requirement, which means the actual download size will less than that.

Any examples please?
Please dont quote an example of BF4 day 1 disc against the current game since the game has undergone multiple patches and fixes which was not part of day 1. The game it is now and what we got on day 1 is a different argument altogether.

The retail release of Doom will come with “a single disc,” and like Fallout 4 will require a fairly hefty 45GB download from Steam. Links to officially supported AMD and Nvidia video drivers will be provided next week. Which is also when preloading will begin, specifically at 12 am ET on May 11. The actual “launch unlock and server launch” will take place at the following geographically-dependent times:

  • Australia/New Zealand @ 12 am AEST
  • North America @ 12 am ET
  • Europe @ 12 am GMT +1
  • Japan/South Korea/Rest of Asia – 12 am Japan
Full details (although there's not much more to it, unless you're interested in the console releases) are up at Bethesda.net. Doom comes out on May 13.

Ah yes, I remember they did this with Fallout 4. Instead of 4-5 dvds they put in a token installer and leaves the rest up to the user.

Like EA did. Move everything to Origin, triple all prices and sell Origin codes in box packs in retail. If only Bioware would ditch EA I wouldn't feel so guilty about giving them my money.

This was actually not due to piracy, but the reverse. Too many people bought their games. In India. From western markets where games cost 60 dollars/euros. So instead of implementing a region lock like Steam does they said screw Indian market and put international prices on everything. So now I buy EA from Mexico through VPN.

PC games now cost 2k on an average. I recall I bought CS for 500 bucks few years back. Even doom costs 3K!![DOUBLEPOST=1462817146][/DOUBLEPOST]If devs dont care...why should the community care?

Actually I prefer the download way - I am glad the world is moving on and dumping discs. On my ACT connection, the download is faster than installing from CDs. I've not used my bluray drive more than 3-4 times in the last 5 years.

Well a majority of us do not have that privilege! If a game company wants success in India, it has to shun the whole concept of humongous digital downloads...

What is your plan on ACT. I am only interested to know the FUP limit :)
