Is Aadhar and mobile linking mandatory

They're definitely not going to take the SC's (half-hearted) ruling seriously, they will find ways to work around it and achieve their agenda.

The only real solution to this is 2019. Although i have a feeling both the bjp and congress are frenemies, and both are just making chutiyas out of the people, with their fake fighting and mud-slinging.

The only real threat was the AAP but they made sure they were decimated...

Well isn't this really no surprise? Fintech and other private companies are lobbying to retain Aadhaar validation etc and are all mouthing off on how it has helped them save costs etc blah blah blah.

Human nature is pure evil. And greed is evil personified

Save costs for who ? the govt maybe. For private entities it is to make money for them.

The part i find weird is people being denied benefits with aadhar.

There is no partisan angle to exploit here. Both incumbent & opposition are lying blatantly and trying to score points off each other.

Any party in power will support the project. I've always wondered why the push to make it mandatory came about. Well Usha said the more they looked at this UID project, the more they realised this was not just some govt project. There was private interest. And that means funds for every party's election campaign should they promise to make it mandatory for everyone.

Well, the SC got in the way and gutted that plan. Still the private entities only spent on political campaigns not Aadhar. Aadhar was underwritten with tax payers money. And the real joke here is taxpayers don't get any benefits from aadhar but are still required to have aadhar to file taxes. They couldn't scrap it because then how to explain the waste of taxpayers money.

And here we are.....
there is absolutely political angle to it no matter how you spin it. The UPA introducing it, BJP opposing it, BJP introducing biometrics and making it mandatory, etc. And I don't see how adhaar is dead yet. Data is still with private entities and unless we have explicit data privacy laws, what's to say a company claiming they deleted adhaar data but is still holding on to a copy for "future" reference.

What i mean is one trying to be holier than the other is nonsense. Just making politics. Both are complicit

it's not dead but it will be used for the purpose it was intended or at least advertised for, benefits. Not for tracking.

We do need data privacy laws. The court's ruled we have a right to privacy so i expect its in the works.

My data isn't with any private entities. I refused to get one until the last minute . I've given my number to no one but the income tax dept. And now nobody else dare ask me for it :D

I suppose i had it easy, in other places people got strong armed into handing it over

The question is, can a person not interested in the 'benefits' still get by without aadhaar?

Just this morning, i got an sms from a private bank saying 'to update pan in your account click here...'. Not forcing or anything, just informative so far. This is a non-linked form60 account. Soon i'm pretty sure they will make pan 100% mandatory which is the same as linking aadhaar.

this is just an eyewash to placate all the petitions filed before them till now. misra did his last dirty job before leaving.

If you pay income taxes then no. If you are over 80 and pay income taxes then yes

PAN is supposed to be linked i don't know to what extent it will be enforced.

So there's no way to get around filing ITRs without aadhaar now eh?

For those without PAN there is form 60. I think this is primarily for rural folk without proper income etc.

PAN is already mandatory for Bank account and it was also reiterated by the court. All existing account will also have to be updated with PAN.

But to be honest, I am fine with the idea of linking Aadhaar with PAN over Aadhaar with bank accounts.

2019 will come, and if the UPA comes in power, it will proclaim all sorts of BS and just proceed full steam.

exactly! That's why I had hopes on SC but baring one, rest all four were totally chill on ahdaar being passed as money bill and the brute force method it was forced on people with little to no safeguards of privacy.

If you are able to normally carry out transactions with your wallet/bank account via 2FA/OTP etc. then removing a linked aadhaar number should be done via the same method. Not sending a copy of the very thing you want to remove. Typical desi stupidity unable to handle technology...
