Budget 25-30k Successor for my OnePlus 3T

I bought my Oneplus 3t around 4 years ago and it has been amazing - even with the phone still running on Android 7.1. Combined with a Nilkin hard cover it has survived numerous falls.

Within the last year, problems have come up. The power button has gone kaput. Fingerprint sensor requires multiple tries. And the proximity sensor doesn't work causing calls to be disconnected in between.
Battery life has also taken a hit. Though thankfully working from home + fast charging ensures that I don't run out of power at a crucial time.

Now I am out to find a successor. Something which last me at least 3-4 years even with ever increasing RAM and Storage needs.

Things which I am looking for:
Decent Battery Life - at least 1.5-2 days on charge
Fast Charging - Very important because now I habituated to the fast charging
Snapdragon processor - I am not a fan of Exynos processors because I think they are under powered for the price.
8GB/128GB
Good build so that the phone survives some drops (within a hard case) for next couple of years

Good to have: 3mm earphones
I don't care for camera though.

In today's world it is quite difficult to get away from monitoring and data collection. Most probably I will be installing a custom ROM on the phone. So that is another consideration.

I have considered OP 7t and at 35k it seems pricey. I was hoping for a drop in price and then I saw the phone is removed from sale on Amazon.

I agree with security. But is there no way wherein you can keep both i.e. customisation and security at same level?
Nope, Not really. The stuff that _can_ be customized(i.e. software) can also be broken by hackers(or whatever...) just as easily. With hardware attestation, Breaking into it should be a lot more difficult. But then, I am no expert in all this so if you want a definite answer, You are better off asking an actual expert.

I guess my question is - If it is a hardware based test then how do custom roms come into the picture? Even if I get Nord and root it and install Magisk on it then I am still in the same boat. It doesn't matter if I have Nord + root + magisk or K20 Pro + custom Rom or K20 Pro + root + magisk. They are all the same. Or am I missing something?

Any phone which allows you to unlock your bootloader is actually compromising the security. Also if you try to re-lock the bootloader, you are asking for a bricked device. So, as the other people have mentioned in the post, if you want the customization, then you will have to compromise on security. You can always encrypt the device but I am not sure if this actually encrypts the internal storage as well.

Have unlocked the bootloaders and relocked then plenty of times. It can be done without problems if you relock after installing stock recovery. Never relock with twrp installed. Also, encryption does encrypt the internal storage. Your point about security still stands though. If devices with locked bootloaders have so many exploits and vulnerabilities, it is quite natural that unlocked bootloaders and rooted devices would be easier to exploit.

I understand. Normally I keep my phones as safe as possible. I often try to give as less permissions as possible. for example, I don't care for apps caching and faster experience if I can get away not giving storage write permissions. So yes I am fine with compromising security in lieu of customization.

I am yet to buy Nord. I was waiting for a Citibank/ICICI (debit not credit) and SBI offer. Finally got one on Amazon for tomorrow. Wish me luck.
