0-20k Need cpu advice

Should I buy a used i5 9600k for 14k or ryzen 5 3300x. Any other recommendation is welcome as well.

It alldepends on your requirement and budget for both the CPU and Motherboard as well. If I am you I will go with AMD Ryzen 3 3300X & MSI B450M Pro VDH Max.

you will get 6 core and 6 threads in 9600k
& 4core 8thread in 3300x

are both the processors second hand?

Everywhere on e-commerce websites 3300X is out of stock but 3100 is available everywhere.
if you can wait wait or else get the Ryzen 3 3100 from vedantcomputers and call them to confirm its stock or for that matter the stock of 3300X as well.

I called mdcomp guys two days ago . They were selling it for 15100. I guess it went out of stock.

Normal gaming and no overclocking
 
yes, the new amd launch is just around the corner. best wait for details before finalizing your selection. i have a ryzen 7 for my build. Core counts aside, in single core perf- intel leads, for multi core amd is better. factor that in for the type of games (normal or demanding ones) you are targeting.
