Digital Table Clock with Backlight or LED Digits - For Night Use

Looking for a simple Digital Table Clock for bedroom. Backlight or something like that is main requirement so in middle of night when it is pitch dark in bedroom, we can see the time clearly. Daytime visibility needs to be good too.

I came across this on amazon (100s of listings)..

Not sure how good or bad it is. I saw reviews where they say sensor (for night light) dying or visible at night, at angle shows nothing.
I am ok to spend a bit more if I can get a good reliable product.

Any has any suggestions?

I am ok if the clock is battery powered or even requires wall power, but it has to be digital and have backlight with clear visibility.

I am also contemplating using my Fire 7 tablet for clock but that would destroy its battery I suppose with constant power being supplied.

Regarding the use of tablets, most charging ICs draw power directly from source after the battery is fully charged. Totally depends on the device though, so no idea what is the situation with Fire 7. I already use two old tablets for this purpose, one in which I have removed the battery.

I had purchased other types of electronic clocks from AliExpress back in the day but most of them die out after a few months. Don't think any of the cheap ones listed on Amazon will last much longer.

I too read about that direct drawing of power but I cannot be sure. Fire 7 is absolutely bottom of the barrel amazon tablet. I too have no confidence on these <Rs. 500 amazon listings and then I will eventually have to buy something else.

I did see deal on Lenovo smart clock on desidime (sometime back) for 1500 each but it seems to come and go.

I'm looking for wall clocks which are digital and visible in the dark and run on batteries that will last months. Anything good available?

Amazon Alexa with 5.5-inch display, that's what I am using.

It by default shows you the time and has an auto-brightness feature, so when at night it goes into this night mode where the digits are fairly visible.

This was my first requirement but then found that everything which has light needs constant power and hence settling for a table clock to put in alternate location where power is available.

Which exact model and what is the cost?

6500rs, but if not urgent wait for some sales. There is also Google Nest or Lenovo Smart Display but they are around 7 inches and cost around 8k.

Well that would be way off budget (even at sale price) for something that I intend to use as clock only, don't really intend to use any smart features.

for a table clock, one may adjust with a Bluetooth Speaker with clock display !

for reliability, Casio has digital clocks - back light appears by pressing a button ...

Edit: see this Ajanta digital clock (other models also exist)

Can you suggest the BT speaker?

I did find some casio (clock) one but I need the display light to be on entire time and not by pressing button.

^ I have been using soundbot SB 572 (portable) BT speaker.

just now I've come across Ajanta Digital clocks at Amazon ...

I use an old android phone propped up against a furniture piece. I use DIGITAL CLOCK SHG2 app. It has lots of customizations that you can do.

I had got this, but it is not available on AZ as of now. Though you may be able to find it easily on other e-retailers.

This actually looks nice and will serve the purpose. Let me see if I can find it somewhere. What was the cost you paid and what is usual price?

Still if anyone has any other options, I am open to suggestions.

Bumping for attention. Yet to find something right. If anyone here can see the Lenovo smart clock for 1500 on flipkart (because whenever it is available, it is only for certain zip codes).
Just Want something reliable but not very expensive too.

So finally got this simple mirror digital clock from Amazon india. Cost me 449.
Absolutely does the job we want it for.

You Will find several listings of the same on amazon in different price range. This was cheapest at that Time.

There are some that come with USB A port but I had no need of that.

I know the mirror finish thing may be off-putting to some but in reality and especially for usage of better visibility of time in middle of night this thing works.

Few main points...

  • Runs on 3 AAA Battery and / or USB Powered. If run on batteries, time does not stay on all the time, on USB powered it does.
  • Shows time in 12/24 HR format, Temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit and also Date. But not all at same time.
  • If you take it off wall power and you don't have the 3 AAA Batteries, it will lose time and you need to setup everything again.
  • Very nice visibility in dark rooms and also have function to automatically dim brightness between evening 6 pm and morning 6 am.

To anyone planning to buy either some sort of smart clock or radio clocks or so, please do evaluate your use and see what functions you may actually use. The fancy features may never be used after first time and eventually, all you would use that unit would be for a clock. So for such cases, better to spend less and buy a cheap unit.

Uploading one more pic of clock in full pitch dark environment. Please be aware that the brightness is on lower side as I have kept that way else it is brighter.

Due to the automatic on off function, post 6pm, the brightness dims and rest of time, it is fully bright.3DD2DF5F-5E23-41D8-B9E8-599CB1ECB604.jpeg

so that was a rebranded item & we can't expect for good quality :(

@raksrules , if possible, can you review it after using for a couple of months ...

Well for ₹449, my expectations are rock bottom anyways. Good part is that this isn't a thing we play around with entire day. It just stays there never touched. And yes I will try to again review after couple of months.
