High temps on Ryzen 5 3600 on stock cooler

Hi,

I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 1500x to Ryzen 5 3600 recently.
I'm getting idle temps around 60 degrees and peak temps on stress test around 95 degrees.
Even while gaming temperatures go from 70 to 90.
I've kept default settings in Ryzen Master software.
I tried Wraith Spire from old r5 1500x then temps dropped by 10 degrees. But on stock Wraith Stealth cooler high temps were back again.

These temps were observed when the case was open. Haven't tested while case is closed

Mobo: Gigabyte b350 gaming 3 (updated to latest bios)
Case fans: 3 intake 120mm, 2 exhaust 140mm and 120 mm.

Please help whether it's the cooler which I need to change or something related to motherboard.

If it's the mobo then I can get away without changing the cooler and only change the motherboard. A decent one for this processor will cost around 10k. Also a decent cooler will cost around 5k.

Fellow 3600 owners, your help too is much appreciated.

I have Ryzen 5 3600x. My idle temperature ranges from 50°c - 55°c and while gaming its ranges from 75°c - 80°c. But im using wraith prism cooler.

Those temps are too high for 3600. Please upload interior photo of your PC. Also, have you made sure that there is right amount of thermal paste on the CPU?

I would suggest to continue using the wraith spire (with copper base) as it is a better cooler than wraith stealth. (solid Aluminium).

I can't, I have to sell my old r5 1500x so that I can partially fund my 3600 purchase. And can't sell it without the cooler.

Try re-seating the cooler, changing thermal paste & cleaning dust filters if any.
what fan curve are you using?
Are you using Auto OC or default?
What voltages are applied on cpu at idle? use application like HWifo to check.
What case are you using?

Edit: What is your ambient temperature?

Undervolt it then.
Undervolted to 1.34 v. Still no diff in temperatures.

Try re-seating the cooler, changing thermal paste & cleaning dust filters if any. Already done both, Wraith spire brings down temps by 10 degrees.
what fan curve are you using? Don't know how to do that for a cpu, is there any tool for cpu also like afterburner.
Are you using Auto OC or default? Tried both, auto OC was sending temps beyond 100 while gaming. But on default it was under 95 degrees.
What voltages are applied on cpu at idle? Don't know how to set that and what software/tool to use.
use application like HWifo to check. Ok, any particular parameters which I need to check?
What case are you using? Case is CM 590 iii with 3 intake 120mm, 2 exhaust 140mm and 120mm. But these tests were done when case was open.

Edit: What is your ambient temperature? 30 to 32

I hope you're using a good quality thermal paste and not those cheap ones. Also the ambient temperature is typical but maybe running it under A/C should help

I get idle temps of about 30_40ish on stock cooler. What is your gpu temp? And which mobo size? Is it possible that the gpu is too closer to the cpu say in smaller mobo therefore affecting temps?

What are the temps of the other components in the PC?

GPU is rtx 3070 FE. Temps stay under 77 while heavy gaming. Mobo is ATX.
GPU is on pcie x16 slot which is default slot for the GPU.

This voltage seems high for an undervolt. You should try something in the range of 1.25 - 1.3V & see the max clocks that you can achieve. Gigabyte b350 gaming 3 is an old motherboard & the BIOS for latest gen might not be working properly. I would try to change everything in bios to manual from auto & set fixed clocks. You should target something like 4.0GHz all core clock at 1.25V & take it up or down from there depending upon the performance & temps. Investing on GAMMAXX 400 V2 will also help you significantly as suggested by others but I would still recommend looking into manually tuning the performance.

One more thing, is your 3600 a recent purchase? If it is, there are high changes that it can reach something like 4.3-4.4Ghz all core clock at under 1.3V.

Update: installed GAMMAXX 400 V2 today. Temps are not crossing 80 degrees now on default settings during stress test of CPU-z. Will play around with custom setting more by undervolting and setting fixed clock.

So overall 15 degrees of temperature reduction with this DEEPCOOL cooler. Value for money. Current setup should last me now for 3 years at least.
