Storage Solutions Sata SSD recommendation 1 tb

Im looking to buy a new Sata SSD and im confused between the curcial MX 5000 1 TB & The Samsung 970 EVO. the purpose for this drive will be a mix of gaming and using it as a drive to edit my pictures on lightroom and store pictures. If you have any other recommendations would really appreciate it .. Also is 2 tb worth investing in ? or should i stick to 1 tb
My configuration is Ryzen 1700 MSI MX 370 GAMING PLUS MOTHERBOARD .

I presume, you have SSD for boot already. In that case get either of these which is cheaper. Also I think you are mentioning Samsung 870 EVO instead of 970 EVO.

About capacity, you are best judge for it. How many games are you looking at? Cause games these days easily be 100 gigs; 8-9 such titles and your drive is full.

If the only M.2 slot on the motherboard is occupied, but you have a free PCIe slot, then consider buying a M.2 to PCIe Adapter (like this one) alongside a M.2 NVMe storage module. Even with an entry level NVMe SSD, not only you can gain much better performance than a SATA counterpart, but the overall footprint will also be lower.
i guess i could try it out is there a better pcie adapter than the one you showed. Also can you receommend a good M.2 drive 1tb for my needs

Regarding the adapter, you can opt for this one, as it comes with a heatsink. Since these passive adapters are all based on generic Chinese ODM designs, there's not much difference between them in terms of functionality.

For the SSD, you can find plenty of similar discussions over this forum. I would personally suggest not to go for a DRAMless (hence cheap) NVMe SSD, but the newly launched Samsung 980 lineup is worth looking if you've a strict budget constraint.

Crucial MX500 is a tried and tested brand and you won't be disappointed if you go with it. I own a few of them and never had any issues. That said, if you have the money, Samsung will probably be a better choice because of its superb RMA experience.

Regarding 2TB being worthwhile, it is a matter of your needs. I have a WD blue 2TB sata SSD which I got from Amazon for 15.6k. At that price, it's a killer deal and I needed the storage capacity, so just decided to get it. My suggestion is if you are getting a 2 TB SSD for < 18k with discounts, etc., you should probably get it if bulk storage is something you are looking for.

Update: The WD Blue 2 TB is currently available for 18,683 - 500 (coupon) - 1,250 (bank discount) = 16,933/- on Amazon.
