I recently purchased few items from Amazon.com as got good deal on them including. Purchase process went smooth, except I got an email after couple of days from Aramex courier company.
They said KYC proof I had attached is not good enough for them.
Let me explain, when you order stuff from Amazon.com, you need to attach some KYC proof for customs clearance. Only acceptable documents are Aadhar, PAN, Voter Card and Passport.
I had attached my Aadhar card as KYC document. But Aramex rejected it saying "Delivery address is not matching with address on KYC document".
Now, tell me, are we supposed to update our address on these 4 important legal documents, just because we want delivery at different address? Obviously not, our delivery address can be anything.
But apparently, it's not allowed and I learned it hard way. I contacted Amazon support first and informed them the issue, but they asked me to contact courier service i.e. Aramex.
So next day (according to Indian working hours), I called up them and explained my trivia and after lot of convincing, they agreed to accept my Rental Agreement which reflects Delivery Address as KYC proof and requested me to send it. So I obliged and sent them in next hour, however it took 3-4 days and everyday follow-up, just to analyze the document and get it accepted as KYC proof. All this time my courier was put on hold. Meanwhile, I got frustrated and I tried contacting Amazon to cancel the order and to place new order, so that I can place new order at address as same as Aadhar card, but did not succeed as order was in shipped status and cancellation was not allowed. Then after 7-8 days, my shipment finally started rolling and got it delivered after another 3-4 days. So delivery process which would have been completed in 5-6 days, took more than 10 days due to KYC issue.
So my Amazon.com shopping tip would be: always use the address same as KYC document as Delivery Address, otherwise expect 5-7 days delay, follow-up with courier and headache.
Happy Shopping
