Laptop SSD Upgrade Strange Problem

Hi,
I have upgraded my old laptop with Crucial BX500 240 Gb SSD and facing a strange problem. The system hangs on restart / shutdown (i.e. at the time of installation of windows 10, normal shut down etc.) every time. The system becomes non responsive, but the CPU fans started rotating faster. The problem occured only after installing the SSD. Could the SSD be the problem? Could it be not compatible? Any solution?
Thanks

Did the installation happen successfully, or does the problem occur even during the restart in the installation process?

Yes the problem occured each time the system is shut down or restart.. i.e. after installation is completed; after final steps is completed or after normal shutdown or restart..

Don't install old OS. Run some tests on SSD. If no use then get replacement. Try to get a Samsung SSD.
Which test to run on SSD??
Quick Test Fails.. Will get the SSD replaced. Should I go for Samsung or Crucial is also reliable under SSD. Price difference is double.

Use smartmontools or crystal disk info to read smart data and see if any errors show up.

Yep. Crucial is good too. Samsung is true king of SSDs. Your call :). Get any but test the ssd asap when you get it.

Any chance you're using a caddy or perhaps have a SATA - 2 interface?
Some caddies have a switch that changes the mode of your interface and cause hangups.

Do get it replaced immediately, seems like you got damaged goods.
Go for Crucial MX500/WD Blue series, or get Samsung SSD
