Recently lost my Fire tv stick 3rd gen remote. So I went to amazon hoping they'd have replacement remote. But no, it costs 2k, I got the whole thing(stick + remote) for 2.3k so here I am, looking to buy the whole thing or only remote if the luck favors me.

Thanks for helping me out.
Will any tv remote work( I have got a non smart tv, it most probably has ir remote)?

Oh. I will check if my tv remote is ir or Bluetooth
To control an Amazon Fire Stick with a remote control, enable HDMI CEC on your TV before you connect the Fire Stick to the TV’s HDMI port

Without this the remote won't work.
And i belive they're is a similar setting in firestick too, can remember clearly..

To setup properly just install the android fire tv remote app on your phone, Connevt to firestick and you can setup everything.. If you ate comfortable using phone to navigate then this app is all you need,

My fire stick works perfectly fine with both my TV remote as well as AVR remote in CEC mode. I don't really need the fire stick remote. But the TV must support CEC.

Many TVs also support CEC only on one of the HDMI ports, so make sure you connect it to the right port, in case there are multiple HDMI inputs.

That said, if you have a non-smart TV, chances of these things working are lower. When I initially bought my Chromecast, play pause worked with my parent's Samsung TV, but not on my own LG TV. Now I have a Vu Android TV.

This is a lot of information for me, didn't know there was anything like CEC. My tv is just plain old lcd with nothing smart in it. I will check and see if the tv remote works or not with firestick.
