I keep downloading images from Insta or Google on android phone. The images get saved properly on phone and able to view them properly as well on any image viewer/gallery app.
When I transfer those images on my pc, many popular image viewer fail to open them as in it shows a red cross or blank page but this happens to random png files not to any specific naming conventions or etc.

This was not the case earlier though (I feel)

But these images are getting opened in MSpaint perfectly. (Now someone dont suggest to rename them as jpeg/jpg and then reopen in image viewer to browse through them as I have already tried and that method doesnt work)

Need some solution..

could be
1. antivirus / internet security issue during transfer. Also run a malware scan on phone/pc just in case
2. your image cache / thumbnail databse might be corrupted

since it opens in mspaint, have you tried opening it and saving it as a separate file? just a thought.

If that would have been the case even the captured snaps in default dcim/camera folder or even whatsapp media could have given issues but they all copy cum open just fine.

Yes I have already mentioned it, re-saving not working either in png/jpg.
Maybe your imageviewer tool is too old and outdated to handle latest png spec.
Updated and tried others few. Same issue.

If you right click any image do you see an "unlock" checkbox under the read-only and hidden options?
